Eating well is living well. A big part of caring for your guinea pig is giving them a proper diet. As you get to know their personality and habits, you’ll learn which foods they like, what’s best for them to eat, and what should be avoided. But before we start snacking, let’s begin with the basics.
Guinea pigs can eat a variety of fruits and vegetables such as apples, carrots, spinach, celery, and grapes. They should also have hay and fresh water available at all times.
The best food for guinea pigs is a combination of hay, fresh fruits and vegetables, and a quality pellet diet. Feeding hay should be a constant in the guinea pigs diet as it helps to keep their teeth in check and provide them with essential nutrients.
Feed your guinea pig on a consistent schedule—twice a day, morning and evening with a combination of hay, fresh vegetables and fruits, and a quality pellet diet. Fresh water must be constantly available, especially during warmer weather, as guinea pigs are susceptible to heat stroke.

What hay is best for a guinea pig, and what amount of veggies should I feed per guinea pig? Thanks!
Would you say this is good guinea pig food? I normally get grreat choice but I thought I'd try this.
I just got a guinea pig about a week ago and she hasn't been eating her food pellets, only her hay, she eats a lot of the hay actually and I refill her hay everyday but she barely touches anything else I try to give to her, including treats or veggies.
Can i feed the hay to my guinea pigs that every farmers in my area feed to their cows(i dont know which hay it is). Can i feed that regularly.
Is there a brand of food that dont contain the pellets, I've noticed that my guinea pig doesn't like eating the pellets in her food...she eats everything but the pellets & we end up throwing the pellets out so we refill her dish...we give her hay as well but I'm worried that she might not be getting enough food...she's not losing weight so far.
Which vegetables can help in increasing guinea pigs weight.???
I just read an article about sulcata tortoise care hoping to gain more information about what the best things to feed them are and saw that one of them is grass hay. Would that be the type of hay you normally feed guinea pigs?
My pig only eats pellets and not hay. We give her lots of hay but she just ignores it. What can we do?
About what percentage of a hamsters diet should be fresh hay?
Can guinea pigs be given raisins or any pulses or wheat?
My 2 guinea pigs seem to be constantly hungry. I feed them the recommended cup of fresh vegetables, the 1/8 cup of pellets and some hay but before the end of the day they go crazy, crying and chewing and won't rest until they are fed again. Feeding that would usually consist of some additional hay or maybe some carrot. Am I doing something wrong or is it just their additional needs as they grow?
My husband found out his allergy source is coming from timothy hay for our guinea pig. I tried switching to orchard hay but my piggy doesn't like it. Can I substitute the actual hay for anything else to give him the proper nutrients like timothy cubes or something? apparently its the dust the hay makes that hes allergic to
