Feeding Directions: A typical adult guinea pig requires approximately 40-50 g (1 .5 oz) per day of Supreme Science Selective Guinea Pig. Selective a be fed to appetite however weight and wellbeing should be monitored regularly. If you are feeding Selective to your guinea pigs for the first time, make sure you change from one food to another, gradually over 10-14 days. At first, you should mix a small amount of Selective with your guinea pig's current food, slowly decreasing the old diet, whilst gradually increasing the quantity of Selective. A sudden change in diet can cause digestive upsets - even when you are changing to a better quality diet - so take care!If your guinea pigs are used to a sugary diet, you may find it takes them a while to change, but persevere as it will help to benefit your pets' health in the long term.Fresh hay and water should always be available.

Questions
My vet recommended that I get what she described as a "puff" food for my older guinea pig instead of a pellet. I can't remember the brand though, is this it? He has lost some weight but seems hungry so I was thinking the pellets were too hard for him.
- This may be what your vet meant since this food resembles dog kibble, but Selective also has pellets. However, our vet recommends this food for pigs who need a harder pellet to help keep their teeth ground down. It requires more chewing. Since older pigs are already losing some muscle strength, it can take them longer to eat the same amount of pellets. I would not recommend this food for an older pig except as a snack. Look for a good quality pellet that is on the smaller side so your older pig can eat more pellets to maintain his weight.
