While playing outside or walking through their favorite park, your pooch runs the risk of coming in contact with pesky parasites. Even indoor pets need protection from these pests, as they can be carried in by anyone who comes in and out of your home. Petco carries a wide selection of flea and tick preventatives. Give your pup a formidable defense against ticks and fleas with flea collars for dogs. And if you’re looking for additional flea and tick prevention for your pooch, be sure to browse our sprays, topical drops, and prescription medications.
Flea collars work in two ways: either by emitting a pesticide into the area around your pet, or releasing one that is absorbed by your pet's skin.
If you’re wondering which flea collar is the right choice for your pet, remember that it is always recommended to consult your pet’s veterinarian to help you create the best flea prevention plan for your pooch.
This will vary depending on the brand and type of flea collar. Some products start working on contact or within hours. Review product details to find the right option for your needs.
If your dog is pregnant or nursing, discuss flea and tick preventatives with your veterinarian. They should be able to provide the appropriate guidance on the right preventative for your pup based on their health.

What time of heartworm flea and tick prevention do you recommend for my Australian Shepherd. I’m afraid to use heartguard and idk about best flea and tick prevention
We just discovered our dog has fleas and we are wondering what would be the best option to treat them. We currently give Interceptor Plus for heartworm and he gets a monthly shot of CADI (cytopoint) for his allergies.
We just had his initial appointment with the vet for his shots and a general health check up he is completely healthy but they wanted to give him some preventative medications for fleas and ticks and also for heartworms tapeworms and hookworms. He gave me sentinel spectrum for all the worms and he gave me nexgard for the fleas and ticks but they both say they treat for fleas. Should I be giving him both of these medications or is it as unnecessary as I think? I don’t want to give him so many.

I tried a flea collar on my cats (one male and one female) and my female cat seemed to have a reaction of some sort. She began scratching the top of her head with her bacj claws, and actually took out two patches of hair. She is very sensitive, and has food allergies. I am unsure if the reaction was to the collar or flea bites. I immediately took the collar off both cats, figuring if only he had one one they'd attack her. How do I proceed as far as the fleas go. Treating her wound w coconut oil.
Our Mini schnauzer has fleas and we're looking to rid them from her, looking at Adams™ Plus Flea & Tick Shampoo with Precor®. We have been applying Frontline Gold, concerned its stopped working hence the fleas, your advice is greatly appreciated.
I put my dog on Simparica. This month I gave it to him 5 days later than usual and he got bites on his thighs, belly and arms. I have spray tick/flea sprays and clean everything out already. I dont see any flea/ticks jumping around him or his stuff or anywhere around the house. Is there anything else I could do? Should I get a flea/tick shampoo? Does 5 days late really make a difference?
I removed 17 ticks from my dog last night. I purchased Vectra 3D today for tick prevention going forward. For any remaining ticks I might not have found yet on my dog, do I need to bathe her in a flea and tick shampoo, let her dry then apply Vectra. Or can I just apply the Vectra 3D without bathing her? Will Vectra 3D kill any remaiming ticks I haven't found?
How can I get rid of fleas on my 6 week old kitten safely and effectively?
My dachshund has fleas and nothing has worked on him to get rid of them. We have tried everything.
My dog is 6 years old and he's on Revolution. New adopted girl dog is a stray with hookworms. I worry about our male getting infected.
