      Once your dog has a negative heartworm test and prescription from your veterinarian, you can purchase Heartgard Plus at Petco online or your neighborhood Petco Pet Care Center with an active prescription from a licensed veterinarian dated within the past 12 months.

      Heartgard Plus is a prescription monthly chew for dogs that’s made with real beef and contains the active ingredients ivermectin and pyrantel. Heartgard Plus prevents heartworm disease and treats and controls hookworms and roundworms.

      Yes. Heartgard Plus is a vet-recommended heartworm preventative, and it’s appropriate for puppies, too. Heartgard Plus helps to prevent heartworm disease in dogs as young as 6 weeks of age with no minimum weight requirement.

      Heartgard—ivermectin—for dogs is indicated to prevent canine heartworm disease, while Heartgard Plus—ivermectin/pyrantel—is indicated to prevent canine heartworm disease and for the treatment and control of two species of roundworms and three species of hookworms.

      To maintain continuous protection against heartworm disease, it’s important to administer Heartgard Plus every 30 days.
