Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Heartgard Plus is a monthly oral pet med used as a combination heartworm preventive and intestinal wormer.

  • - Protect your dog from potentially deadly heartworm disease
  • - Treat and control hookworms and roundworms (which can cause disease in both pets and people)
  • - Delicious beef-flavored chewable is easy to administer
  • - Most dogs like the taste of Heartgard Plus and will accept the chewable like a treat. The chewable should be administered in a manner that encourages the dog to chew, rather than to swallow without chewing. Heartgard Plus Chewables may be broken into pieces and fed to dogs that normally swallow treats whole. Care should be taken that the dog consumes the complete dose, and treated animals should be observed for a few minutes after administration to ensure that part of the dose is not lost or rejected. If not entirely consumed, give another full recommended dose as soon as possible.
  • - The main ingredient in Heartgard Plus Chewables is ivermectin, which specifically targets heartworm larvae. Another use of Heartgard Plus Chewable Tablets for dogs is to help with the treatment and control of other intestinal parasites like hookworms and roundworms

I sent my written prescription in with two different items on it. One for fleas and one for heart worms. Petco didn’t enter both into their system. Now I am forced to get another written prescription from my Vet. I spent almost 45 minutes on the phone with customer service and she couldn’t understand what I meant. I get an email after the call confirming that I have 1 refill left on my Heart-guard prescription. Apparently it was far too complicated to have two prescriptions written on a single form!! Horrible customer service.

Yes, I recommend this product.

  1. Yes.

My vet does not fax or give Rx's over the phone. I have the written Rx. How can I send it to the petco pharmacy?

  1. I would probably go to a store with the written rx, other then that I'm not sure my vet oked the info through email with the info I provided online.

Is the 6 count good for 6 months (1 per month) or does it take 6 to get a one month dose for a 70lb dog?

  1. 6 doses, 6 months otherwise it would be hideously expensive

How can I get a prescription for my two dogs. We take them to a Vet but it’s getting too expensive and looking for a cheaper way to get them their heart guard. Do I still have to take them in for their exam in order to get the prescription?

  1. You can take your dogs in to Vetco at petco and have then tested yearly (i think it cost $30) and they offer you the heartgaurd there!
