Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Heartgard Plus is a monthly oral pet med used as a combination heartworm preventive and intestinal wormer.

  • - Protect your dog from potentially deadly heartworm disease
  • - Treat and control hookworms and roundworms (which can cause disease in both pets and people)
  • - Delicious beef-flavored chewable is easy to administer
  • - Most dogs like the taste of Heartgard Plus and will accept the chewable like a treat. The chewable should be administered in a manner that encourages the dog to chew, rather than to swallow without chewing. Heartgard Plus Chewables may be broken into pieces and fed to dogs that normally swallow treats whole. Care should be taken that the dog consumes the complete dose, and treated animals should be observed for a few minutes after administration to ensure that part of the dose is not lost or rejected. If not entirely consumed, give another full recommended dose as soon as possible.

I 18 lb.am looking for a chewable for My 18 weight Dach I want it to cover fleas, heartworm, ticks, an "All In One' chewable, do You have anything that matches? Thank You

Who do I call for my prescription I use Petco vet I need a telephone number to get Maggie heartworm . Need it next month October

    1. Just give Petco the name of your regular vet and they will contact them to authorize the prescription.

If my dog is a 10-11 pound Pomeranian, is the heartgard plus for up to 25 pounds safe to use?

    1. We have used this for our 5 lb Havapoo and our 16 lb Cavalier King Charles without issue for years. Don’t try to cut the dose in half as the manufacturer states that the medication is not evenly distributed throughout each chew.

Is Heartguard as safe and effective as Advantage Multi, as a heartworm preventative?  I would prefer to give a chew, rather than an application to the skin, as the app appears to irritate the skin and my shih tzu runs from e whenever I try to use it!

    1. I used it during my dogs puppy phase and didn’t have any issues. We moved to the higher weight one when she grew and still takes it. She loves it when it’s heartguard day. It’s like a little special treat.

I know Heartgard is for Heartworm but I want to make sure, can I give my dog this chew and apply Advantix II safely? I want to be sure there’s no issue with these two together. Thank you!

    1. I would recommend the new product Simparica Trio. I have been giving my dog Heartgard with Simparica, but now that they have come out with Simparica Trio we have moved to that product. This is FDA approved and no since in giving two different pills when you can just give one. As for a direct answer tor Heart Guard and Advantix I would ask your Vet for interactions, as that is what I did for heart guard and Simparica. Going to Simparica Trio I won't have to worry about it at all.

Will you be offering any sales on Heartgard and Nexgard in the near future?  I have two dogs to purchase for and it would cost me $581.88 for a year’s supply for them. I see that you offer 10% off if picked up in store, but wonder if you have anythi else?

    1. When I ordered Heartgard online there was no option to have it delivered to the store, thus no discount.  Apparently prescription meds don’t have that option.

The box says 6 chews, the description says 3 pack. So, are you getting 18 chews?

    1. The description gives you options for the count availability, the box states the amount you ordered.

What is the expiration date on these? If you're buying a 3 pack that should take 18 months to deliver, will it last that long?

    1. As I understand it, a three pack has 3 doses - so, enough for three months. The longest amount you can get it for is 12 months' worth.

My dog weighs 24.2 lbs. Should i purchase the up to 25 lbs or the 25 - 50 lb chew?

    1. It's always best to consult with your vet. That's one medicine I don't mess around with the dosage.

Does the 6-pack treat for 6 months or do you give them all 6 each month?  I wish they showed the directions.

    1. One each month. Mark the date in the back of the box, so you do not give 2x in same month.
