Hello! I am planning to get a (male) dog soon and I am wondering what would be the best lifestyle for them. I am unsure if I should have my dog as a vegetarian/vegan or stick with products with meat. I would like my dog to live a long, healthy life. What is the best lifestyle for dogs?

I would really like to start making my own dog food. All the fillers and preservatives don't make me comfortable now that I've had yet another dog diagnosed with cancer. However, I want to do it right. I can't find enough information about their nutritional requirements to do this and I don't want to guess.
