It will all depend on his temperament! Big dogs can get along with small dogs just fine but it does depend on their personalities. Make sure they meet in a neutral area (so not your yard that your small dog "owns." It wis probably a good idea to take the bigger dog on a hard walk to wear him out and also have a helper with you. If you are scared, have them meet with a fence between them first. You can absolutely train him to a kennel still. Lastly, make sure your fence is high enough and in good condition. It's pretty tough to train a dog not to jump a fence. One option is to get an underground fence and run the wire along the fence line. Most dogs will respect this system and won't try to jump the fence. I also recommend to do some reading about Labs in general. They are typically very good dogs but they do require some exercise. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! There are medications for anxiety that can work in these cases that can be used on an as needed basis such as Trazodone. This is something her veterinarian could prescribe. Good luck and have a good night!

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem with Maddy and Kenneth! Unfortunately, if they were rescued from a meat farm, it's likely that they were never properly socialized as young puppies. This doesn't mean that there is nothing you can do now to help them - but it does mean that they may never be "normal", cuddly, friendly dogs no matter what you do. If you want to keep Maddy and Kenneth, you will need to give them lots of time and space to get comfortable in your home. This could take months, or even years in some cases. You may want to try DAP pheromone diffusers to help make them more comfortable, along with a natural calming supplement like Composure or Zylkene. If you have a veterinary behaviorist in your area, I would strongly suggest making an appointment for an in-person consultation. He/she can evaluate both dogs and help you set realistic goals for them, and will also help you put together a detailed plan to help build their confidence and encourage them t

No, it's not too late to start kennel training Keela. You will have to slowly train him to get used to a crate. Start putting him in it when you are home and sitting nearby so he doesn't think you are abandoning him, and slowly increase the time he is in it. He can have toys in the crate, and puzzle toys with treats in it that he has to figure out how to get the treats out. You can put a tablespoon of peanut butter in a Kong toy and freeze it in the freezer overnight, then give it to him in the crate. That will keep him occupied for a while.

Congratulations on your new puppy! Play biting and being excessively "mouthy" is very common in puppies. I have not personally had luck with the techniques of saying "No!" or holding the muzzle. I that makes puppies more excited. My general rule for puppies is that you make a high pitches squeak (like a littermate puppy would do if they bit too hard), then walk away from the situation. More than anything, your puppy wants to play with you. If you walk away, it is negative reinforcement, so they are less likely to do that behavior again. Depending on the puppy, the goal is to get them to look away from you or start doing something else before you engage in play again. I found that a long rope toy made a good toy to play with my puppy because there was lots of toy for him to bite at without touching my skin. I also found that allowing my dog to play with other dogs was a great way for him to learn what is appropriate play. I took my dog to doggy day care twice a week as a pup
