Silent and Beautiful

Elaina

I've had this fish tank twice. I have loved it both times. The light does suck a little, especially if your water has tannins. But overall, I love the silent flow, the convenient size for my desk, kitchen counter, living room corner, anywhere I want it, really. If you want a good, silent fish tank then this is the one. It is gorgeous and never disappoints me.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this aquarium for the esthetic 5 days ago for the full price and now see it on sale. The filter does not seem to actually filter but the waterfall is nice. The instructions are terrible I been online researching the best way to maintain regular filter maintenance. The lights are already dimming and reading the reviews now I see that the filter/light is faulty. I’m very disappointed with my purchase after spending days to set up and cycle. With the light being submerged I can only imagine it will be an algae magnet. The tank is not 5 a true 5 gallon and the box take up a good amount of the tank. I do not want to tear it down to return but also do not want to have to end up buying lighting and filters to customize it. I got this so I could avoid many wires and attachments. wish I would have researched before purchasing and saved my money and got a regular tank with a sponge filter and attachable light. My betta is happy but not sure it will be for long.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Excellent tank for Betta and with proper set up, Betta will thrive! I used Fluval bio-stratum and a 7.5 watt preset heater.

I got this tank because I was looking for a smaller, yet more upright tank to sit next to my larger tank as a hospital tank or nursery tank. It is okay. LIKES: I like that there's a light that shines downwards. I have not had anyone escape except a shrimp that may or may DISLIKES: The filter is barely working after maybe 6 months of use. The filter also seems like it was never "strong enough" for the tank in general. I also dislike that I have to completely unplug it to clean it and rinse the filter. Please... Make a better quality tank like this.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have had two of the older model CHI tanks running for over four years, off and on. The secret to my success? Here you go: 1. Clean the cube filter often. 2. Don't burn the lights when you don't need them on. 3. Add a clip-on secondary light source if you're going to have live plants. 4. Invest in a sponge filter. The sponge filter does it all and saves the cube to just be a waterfall filter. 5. Keep up with your water changes. Voila! You've got a happy little waterfall fish tank that a betta or a few shrimp should really enjoy.

Yes, I recommend this product.

After a month the light switch stopped working, the filter doesn’t run properly, and all my fish died.

Can you add a heater? If so, do you have any suggestions?

  1. Yes, just make sure it’s the appropriate wattage for the number of gallons you have or you’ll cook the fish. It doesn’t have to be a certain brand. Mine is just the generic one they sell.

How do you turn off the light and keep filter running?

  1. The switch on the side (the side that has the cord) should switch off only the light. You should have to unplug it to make filter not run.

Where can I get a replacement filter it completely stopped working it’s not pumping the water through

  1. If the pump is no longer pumping water, you should try taking it apart and cleaning the inside. Most likely it is just a dirty impeller and needs a good cleaning. If that doesn't work, but a whole new Fluval Chi Aquarium. It's crazy, but the cube alone can be purchased on line, but will cost you more than a complete new setup. New Set Up around $71.99, new cube (pump, light, filter) $72.67 or higher depending on the site. If the pump is working, and it's just a dirty filter, Petco sells those replacements.

Can you have the light on without the filter running?

  1. No, the filter runs continuously when plugged in. There is a switch to turn light on/off.

What replacement filters do I buy?

  1. Look for the Fluval chi filter and foam pads. They come in a pack of 2. it’s only compatible with the fluval chi brand filters

Will the light sustain live plants?

  1. Yes it will

I bought this for my betta.. will the mirrored sides cause him to become overly stressed or try to fight himself?

  1. I have two of these tanks for a male and female betta (separately) and I didn’t experience them getting overly stimulated with their reflection.

How do you turn the light off

  1. There is a long thin line in the back of the filter. Took me hours to figure out something so simple lol. You just move the long thing to the right. Looks like this —-> l it looks like it’s not meant to move

Does the light have dimming options or alternative blue lighting for night time?

  1. No it doesn't. Just on or off and standard white.

Can I add a heater to this tank?
