Ok so I have an issue. Its getting cold here and we are looking at some very heavy snow this year. All three of our dogs are rather thin coated. The older two refuse to potty outside if its too cold. Would sweaters help? Also the youngest is less than two pounds (tiny chihuahua mix) and even though he's not allowed outside yet we like 2 to 4 inches above our floor tend to get cold no matter what temperature we keep the house at how can I help him stay warm?

Why does my dog hate wearing sweaters? My dog is 34 pounds overweight according to our vet. We are currently putting her science hill's active fitness and cutting back on table scraps 100%. However, we are also trying to increase her exercise and she gets overheated very easily. She is a great pyr mixed with lab and inherited the thick double coat. We live in TN so it is hot and very humid. Should we shave to help her cool down? She pants all the time and seems to have trouble breathing (maybe due to the weight)
