Not all rawhide is created equally. At Petco, we only offer highly digestible rawhide so that pups can have a satisfying rawhide treat with ingredients and formulas that are easy for them to digest. Each delicious piece of these easily digestible rawhide treats is designed for easy digestion and made with wholesome ingredients to help satisfy your dog’s urge to chew. And some are even formulated to help clean dogs’ teeth and gums as they chew.
Traditionally, rawhides are not easy for dogs to digest. And large chunks that are broken off or swallowed can pose choking hazards, damage gums or teeth or upset your dog’s stomach. Fragments that get ingested can stay in a dog’s digestive system much longer than regular food and can cause blockages that may be dangerous to your dog’s well-being. That’s why highly digestible rawhide treats and chews are typically a much better solution for your pup to enjoy.
How digestible a rawhide treat or chew is for your dog depends on your dog and the type of chew you choose. It’s best to choose highly digestible rawhide treats for your dog to make it easier on their system. There are also many excellent rawhide bone alternatives for pups with especially sensitive digestive systems. Check out all of Petco’s rawhide-free chews and consult your veterinarian to choose which treat will work best for your pup.
In general, 1 to 2 hours of chewing on easily digestible rawhide treats or chews every day is usually okay for your dog. However, although rawhide is primarily protein and fiber, rawhide can contribute to your dog’s daily caloric intake. Keep in mind that the number of calories coming from treats should only amount to about 10% of your dog’s daily intake, and make sure you’re not overfeeding your dog digestible rawhide treats.

Is beefhide bones good for dogs or bad
What type of bones are recommended to keep dog's teeth healthy and clean? What are your thoughts on rawhide? My small dog will any brand bone without a problem but my big dog will swallow big pieces and ends up eating them in 3 seconds.
We have recently been involved in a conversation with friends who insist that rawhide as a dog chew is not advisable. What do you think is a proper chew for a (large) dog?
My dog has pretty bad food allergies. She’s been on Royal Canin rabbit and potato and their hydrolyzed treats for a while now and it has stopped her from scratching her ears open. I’m just wondering if there is some sort of dog bone or raw hide I might be able to give her. She really likes treats that she can chew on for a long time.
My dog infested rawhides treat... instruction label states intend for chew NOT food. Is it ok if they ingest the treat? He doesn’t show any issues with indegestion or change in his behavior. Should I no longer give him rawhides?
If my dog seems to be allergic to chicken and beef food (only salmon doesn't make him sick), would he also be allergic to beef rawhide?
