Yes! Check out basepaws.com for a genetic test you can buy to use with your cat. You just apply a bit of tape (supplied in the kit) to your cat's fur, submit the entire piece as a sample, and you get results in a few weeks.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Tiggy! He is adorable and looks to be a tabby domestic shorthair. I think the easiest thing to do is check for fleas. Fleas love the tail area and are very itchy. I would also treat for fleas. Over the counter options are Frontline or the Seresto collar. I wish you the best!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I feel your pain and believe you. Most cats when they are at the Vet act like Willow because they are scared. At home I would be careful on how and where you touch her. Most cats only like being pet or scratched around the neck, face and ears. Watch for signs of her being done with the touching: turning to look at you, flicking her ears or tail. When you see subtle signs like that you should stop touching her. You definitely can try a calming collar and over the counter calming treats to see if it helps. But the most important thing to do is not push her when she is done with attention. https://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3261+11268+29853&pcatid=29853 Good luck!

It might be best to shift her attention to a larger stuffed toy. You can play with her in a similar fashion, but your hand won't be directly in her grasp. The toy can be a little smaller or the same size as her, and can be a newer toy or a gently used one from a thrift store. Hold the toy by the back and wiggle it at her in a similar way as you likely do when playing with your hand and the blanket. She may respond by flopping on her side or back, you can then push it to her belly or paws and let her grab ob and kick or bite to her heart's content. This serves to give you just a little distance between your hand and her claws. It's best to not use your hands to play fight with her, just in case she gets too involved and hurts you accidentally.
