You might want to check to see if Cookie is having the same issue on a flatter or larger perch. It could be that she's having trouble grasping on a perch that is too small (including your finger), and a flatter surface may be easier for her to rest comfortably on. If she seems unable to grasp with the foot at all, the issue is worsening, or you see other signs of illness or problem with the leg, having a vet take a look is best to rule out issues such as injury, illness, nutritional deficiency or neurologic issues.

He would likely struggle or flee if he didn't want to be picked up. He may simply be grunting when you place a hand under his belly. Support his rear end his chest when lifting him. Prevent him from kicking his back legs out which could injure his back/spine.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. If she is slipping on floors, ToeGrips are sometimes more helpful than booties. https://toegrips.com/ If it is pain or weakness sometimes acupuncture can make a world of difference for senior dogs. Please be sure that you find a veterinarian that does acupuncture in conjunction with her current medications. If it has not been done X-rays to try to localized the cause of her problem can sometimes help determine the best therapy. (Ie back or hips or knees or all?) Best of luck I hope this helps.

Well done on holding her. The best thing to do is to keep these sessions really short until she gets more comfortable with you. If you force her to stay in your hand you will ultimately scare her. Keep some nice treats that she likes and give them when handling so she has a positive association.

Hi there. In general, there should be no problem with having Sadie wear booties designed for dogs most of the day, if she tolerates them well. So you could certainly try this. As another option, I would suggest taking a look at canine toe grips, which are designed specifically for this purpose and are much less bothersome to most dogs than booties: https://toegrips.com/ Putting down rugs and carpet runners in areas where she spends a lot of time can also be a good way to give her more traction. I hope that helps a bit! :)
