I have been looking for a Collared lizard but unable to find one, how can I find a local breeder that sells one?

I have a few questions about an ackie monitor. I want to eventually get one to add to my babies. Right now I have my beardie Loki, he is my baby. Can I build a wire cage with wood bottom half to allow soil nd sand mix for digging? Can I keep his cage
I am very glad that you are looking into husbandry before purchasing an ackie! There is a good care sheet with information on ackies on the Reptiles Magazine website. Based on your location in TX, it may work well to have the ackie outside, but there are a few things to consider. Evaluating the temperature requirements for this species in comparison to the temperatures that you have in your area during the year will be important. We don't want the monitor to get too cold at any point. Thankfully, if needed, supplemental heat sources can also be used outdoors. If these are used, please ensure that they are properly positioned so the ackie cannot access them, and that they are weather-proofed to prevent any electric shock. Also ensure that humidity is high enough in the enclosure - depending on your area, it may need to be supplemented for this species. Use a background to block his view. This may prevent glass surfing or nose rubbing as well as provide more privacy/security. Again, check the temps in his enclosure to make sure it is species appropriate. Offer a variety of crickets, mealworms, dubia roaches, silkworms and wax worms. Gut load prey for 24 hours prior to offering. Dust appropriately with vitamins and minerals regularly. He may also benefit from a soak in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte. If his appetite does not return after adjustments to environment and diet, have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth.

Ever since Ash shed he hasn’t ate much. He’s only ate a couple worms here and there. The same goes for crickets. I have tried so hard to get him to eat better but he doesn’t seem to want to. What should I do?
Often when a reptile doesn’t want to eat, it is a sign that they don’t feel well. The most common reason behind them not feeling well is imperfections in their husbandry and diet. I would recommend consulting an online care sheet to ensure that your husbandry is as perfect as possible. Common areas of imperfection include temperature, lighting, and humidity. I would also recommend having Ash seen by a veterinarian, as they can help to counsel you about Ash’s husbandry as well. In addition to a thorough physical examination, they may recommend diagnostic testing including radiographs (x-rays) and blood work to evaluate systemic health. I have seen some articles that say overhead heat is best but I've also seen some that say it under tank heating is best where do you stand? The only thing they seem able to agree on is that heated rocks are bad
Thanks for reaching out. Heat rocks are bad. One recommendation is to utilize under tank heat as the background heat source, keeping the environment at 70-75 F 24-hours a day, then an overheat lamp can be set up as a timer to turn on for 12-14 hours/day and raise the day time heat to the appropriate level. Timers work great for the UVB bulb and extra heat. Good luck.
