Great Size, TERRIBLE lid!

I purchased this item on August 30th. While cleaning my hammie's cage, the lid slid off the track. Neither my adult daughter nor I could get it back on the track. It does not fit properly. There is a half inch gap between the lid and the top edge of the tank. I've had to take my hammie's upper platforms out of her cage so she cannot get out. The tank itself is a perfect size for a Syrian hamster! Nice concept, but has definite design flaws. Was really hoping this would be awesome.

Just be aware the measurements are not listed correctly it's not a full 36 inches long, and only 16 1/2 high. Not 18 high. Someone doesn't know how to use a measuring tape.

Been using this 5 days and the mesh screen on top has already melted from my basking lamp. 5. Days. Spend the extra $50 on a better tank with forward opening doors. Absolute garbage.

lid is a royal pain

The glass tank itself is good quality, and the dimensions are great for my adult corn snake. However, it takes me like a full 5-10min to get the stupid lid back on. I get that they're trying to make it escape proof, but it was definitely manufactured wrong, it's like slightly too large to slide on the tracks easily. Probably find something else unless you want to deal with this lid.

Great cage that seems very solid and overall a great value. I love the little feeder door on top which makes it so you dont need to move the lighting if you need quick access to something. The negative is the top is very hard to get on once taken off, and even does not slide off easily without slight force once it reaches a certain point. There is a part of the top is almost too wide, and it needs to be just right to slide on. Could possibly be a manufacturing defect. I also use a thermostat on the outside for heating and the wire for the probe that has to hang into the tank causes the top to not slide shut all the way, so that's is something to consider if you are using it for anything that can climb/escape through the top. It prevents me from being able to fully close/lock the top. That has not been an issue for my leopard gecko however and something I can easily ignore (at least for now while he is young, as he has not tried to climb the foliage).

The tank is decent quality and is a decent size for all dwarf hamster species! There are 2 lock systems on the lid which I find to be great but the lid can be a struggle to put back on when you fully take it off. :(

I plan on getting a centipede, but they are fairly good at escaping through small cracks. Are there any gaps in the lid, or would I be safe?

What do you use to lock/secure the lid? I have a pin in the front but if my snake puts enough pressure upward, it can create enough gap to escape.

can i put a russian tortoise in here
- The size may be adequate for a young tortoise. Some people argue about putting tortoises in glass enclosures as some will ram the sides, dig in corners or pace back and forth. My tortoises get plenty of outside time and exercise so they don't exhibit those behaviours in their enclosures. Larger tortoises and /or wild caught tortoises are fully capable of cracking or breaking glass tanks.
