I love this food! I have a sensitive French Bulldog and spent lots of money on food before I found this one. And it works without hurting his tummy or causing itchiness. I add a wet topper for his breakfast. He loves it and I love that he’s fit and healthy!

Yes, I recommend this product.

A Petco employee recommended this food to me when I told them about my dog’s allergy issues. This $64 bag of dog food ended up costing me $874 because it made my dog so sick, he had to be rushed to the animal emergency hospital and was admitted overnight. It caused him acute pancreatitis and he was bleeding out his bottom and throwing up. Please do your own research before purchasing this dog food. I was told by my vet that hydrolyzed dog food needs to be prescribed by a veterinarian and that Hydrolyzed dog foods sold without one are no good for your pets.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hydrolyzed based food was prescribed to my dog for her allergies, and nothing else works like this does. Thank you, whole hearted and petco for making this available without a prescription! I will be a customer for life.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Over the past few purchases this food has gone from making the dogs do a happy dance to vomiting, followed by being groggy for a couple of days, refusing to eat, drink or do much of anything. Switched food and they're back to normal

No, I do not recommend this product.

Many dog foods claim to help with skin and coat, eyes, digestive etc, but when Abbie rescued me 2.5 years ago, she had bad itchy skin and flakes, hot spots etc. Since putting her on the Whole Hearted Healthy Benefits for skin and coat and her skin problems are gone! She's been off steroids for 2 years! Plus the bite sizes don't cause her to bite her own lips like the bigger piece foods do.

Yes, I recommend this product.

WOW--Saved my dog from skin allergies!

My English Bulldog has severe skin allergies to *everything.* I've tried every protein source including novel proteins and grain-free dog foods with kangaroo, alligator, bison, etc that cost a fortune. I've tried prescription diets. He reacted to every single one. He was licking the skin off his paws and his ears were a mess. Out of sheer desperation and totally thinking it was probably going to be a fail like all the others, I decided to give this a try. I am SO glad I did!! His itching has disappeared and his skin is clear. His ears aren't red/hot/inflamed. He's a MUCH relieved, MUCH more happy dog. The hydrolyzed salmon is the key because it makes it less likely to cause an allergic response. Plus, he LOVES the flavor and pushes the bowl all around the kitchen floor trying to get every morsel. He never did that with any other food I've tried. If you have tried everything like I have and are giving up hope on finding something to help your pooch, give this a try. It's worth every penny IMO and could help those frustrating skin issues.

Yes, I recommend this product.

My dogs were already eating this. So I ordered it right away, making sure I would have plenty before their old one was out.

Bring back WH GF Pea & Hydrolized Salmon. This has been unavailable for months and the only info. from Petco is that it is NOT discontinued and is on a long order pause. What does that mean? Estimated availability date? Alternative Hydrolized option?

  1. Hi jcme, Good day! Unfortunately, there is no information yet of when it will be available. Please check SKU 2806500 as an alternative. Thanks,

Please bring this product back! I have not been able to find another food for my dog that works well. SKU 2806500 is not a good alternative. Please, please restock this.

  1. I've had luck with SquarePet VFS Skin & Digestive Support. It can be purchased direct or on Amazon. It's Hydrolyzed (non-prescription) as well but pork which is a novel protein. My dog has done well on it, but I will be transitioning her to a raw diet soon and completely off kibble. Good luck!

When will this be back in stock?

  1. Hi MindyL, Good day! There is no information yet of when it will be available. Please check SKU 2806500 as an alternative. Thanks,

It appears to be no longer sold in any store within 100 miles. My last bag I had to travel an hour to pick up. Shipping is also rarely an option. If this is being discontinued I need to know so I can start to ween my dogs off.

  1. I ended up switching away from wholehearted altogether. After switching recipes several times due to it rarely being in stock when I needed it and then discontinuing their loyalty program, it was time.

Is this food appropriate for food intolerance? I have been using Blue Natural Veterinary Diet. So expensive but don't want to change if it doesn't handle that issue also.

  1. Hi JeanneMG, Good day! There are a lot of key similarities between these two types of dog foods, but I would consult with a vet. Thanks,

My dog has been eating this food for awhile; but recently, I've noticed the color and smell changing. For example the last bag smelled almost smoky, like BBQ...this bag doesn't smell smoky at all, dog doesn't dive in and the color is greenish/gray..???

  1. Hi berneMOM, Product smell and color can vary but if you can provide the lot code we can investigate further. You can contact our Customer Relations department at 877-738-6742 regarding this. Thanks,

Is the flaxseed in this dog food also hydrolyzed? My dog is allergic to flaxseed. She has terrible allergies and scratches all the time, but so far all of the dog food I can find to help skin issues contain flaxseed.

  1. I believe you would need to direct this question to the manufacturer of the food.

How long should it take my. Dog to fully digest the salmon Hydrolyzized formula? She has been having accidents at night in spite of lots of opportunities outside prior to bed

  1. I would ask veterinarian; she may have an imbalance which can cause this. It can be common in Sheppard’s but can happen in all breeds. Usually requires supplemental type treatment. With a new diet, it can 3-10 days to adjust.

My 6 month Labrador is shedding a lot I just wanted to know if this food will help with shedding

  1. Hi AlvarezL, We will not be able to recommend one, but this product helps support skin and coat overall health. Thanks,

What is the phosphorus amount this food?

  1. This is a question to ask of the manufacture, email or call them to get an answer.
