In extreme cold areas, where ice cover lasts for a long time, install a bubbler in addition to your de-icer. Keep the bubbler close to the surface of the water -like its name suggests, a bubbler produces thousands of bubbles that replenishes valuable oxygen in your pond, helping your fish survive.

Don't break the ice to create an opening in ice on the surface of your pond. You'll risk causing harmful shockwaves that can injure or kill your fish.

what temperature does this heater keep the water

  1. It does not heat the water. It's sole purpose is to keep a hole in the ice. When temps drop below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, ponds can freeze over, and the fish living in them are deprived of oxygen as CO2 levels rise. Keeping a hole in the ice, allows oxygen in and CO2 out.
