External Care: Use a soft cloth and ammonia-free glass & acrylic cleaner to keep outside of aquarium clean. Replace filter media monthly (if applicable). Internal Care: A monthly water change of 15-20% is recommended. Scrub aquarium wall with appropriate glass or acrylic scrubber to reduce algae growth. Evaporation is common, ensure water level is maintained.

Good, but not great.
Glass lid does not fully cover tank allowing for gap big enough for fish to jump out or snail friends to crawl out. The lid condensates from the inside when tank temp changes. Tank does not have a heater.

Good Starter Tank for New Fish Owner
I've had this for about a month as an emergency purchase to rescue a betta. It's not perfect and of course I'm learning of upgrades, but I like the look of it, and it has worked fairly well. The light started flickering after a few weeks, so that's been the only thing not holding up. I have no experience with fish so can't compare to other tanks (I'm sure some are way better) but I like that this one isn't covered in black plastic.

Worst tank. Do not recommend.
Worst tank ever. They don’t make replacement lids for this one so good luck if it chips. I called corporate and the operator was no help. He said “did you try explaining this issue to the store?” — yeah at least 3 times now. The filter constantly breaks down. The small tiny filters for it are $10 for 2 and ALWAYS sold out.

No replacement filters
Great tank but you cannot find filter replacement cartridges. Petco doesn't carry them they said they can't order them. How can you sell a $80 aquarium and not carry filter cartridges to be replaced. This leads to cloudy dirty tank. I also use live plants and never had this problem until I bought this tank setup.

Looks nice
I gave 4/5 stars because the filter is absolutely awful. I had to buy a new filter but the tank is beautiful. The lid design is kind of poor as well. If you’re not carful when taking it off you’ll drop it in the tank.

Awful filtration system resulting in ill fish!
Bought this tank a month and a half ago, and it I entirely regret it. The filtration system is awful. Water was constantly cloudy, and the filter media was disgusting after hardly a month. This resulted in my fish becoming ill. I have had 5 gallon tanks that were cheaper, and of lesser quality that performed better than this tank. Please be careful, and think before you buy this tank, as you may be risking the health of your fish!

Lid design needs improvement
I was excited to move my female beta into this beautiful tank. Unfortunately, there is 1 inch in the back of the tank not covered by the lid and she jumped out while I was at work and died.

Poor Lid Design Now My Snail Is Injured
Purchased this about 2 months ago for my betta and mystery snail. Overall it’s a beautiful tank and I actually really like it. The only reason I am giving it a 1 star is because the top of the tank, where the lid sits is a very poor design! Because of this my snail was able to escape, fall and crack its shell. My snail is alive, but this has now cost me extra money in gathering the medicine and temporary isolation tank to nurse my snail back to health. In other worse this was preventable and they really need to include a lid that covers the entirety of the tank.

Where can I get replacement filter cartridges, or what other brands / sizes are compatible with this filter?
- I cut my own. Look up "Aquarium Activated Carbon Filter Media Pad" on amazon. I bought one from Aquaneat brand. I also just added a small mesh baggie with carbon separately. (I have tannin rich driftwood)

Is the power source the same for filter and light? What if you want to be able to put the light on a timer but keep the filter on all the time?

Where can I find a dimmer switch that will work with these lights? Looking for a new light that has sunrise, morning, and moon light..bright is beautiful but very bright..I do love the tank…I added other media in filter on top of what came with it.
