My dog has ticks, nothing works. Need affordable tick treatments?
Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear that Leo is having a tick problem. Tick protection is important because depending on where you live, Ticks can transmit many devastating tick borne diseases. There are many products out there including topicals and a few collars. Some of these products will require a veterinary prescription and some are over the counter (OTC). Topical products include Frontline Plus, Advantix, Vectra 3D, Effitix, Activyl, Paradefense, etc. There are some oral medicines out also called Bravecto and Nexgard. The two collars out there that work are Preventic and Seresto. I would advise calling your vet to at least discuss what they recommend in your area and go from there. From a cost standpoint, the Seresto collar (fleas/ticks, 8 months of coverage, waterproof) is probably the most affordable. You can look online for purchasing options. Congratulations on your new dog! I like Revolution if you are looking for a topical product. It consistently works well and is well tolerated. If you like the idea of an oral product better, I like Trifexis (it’s another all in one product). Sometimes though the pets can smell the Trifexis and they won’t eat it. In that instance, I like Simparica and Interceptor. My personal preference is oral products. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It doesn't appear that there are any close to you though - the closest one is about 40 miles away. If you are willing to drive this may be your least expensive option. They do not charge an exam fee. You can buy those products at Petco for Beaux. I would advise to only purchase Frontline or Advantix. I would not get anything cheaper than that. Be aware that these are still your best over the counter products but fleas are developing immunity to them. In general, the oral products like Simparica and Bravecto are the best.
