Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Baluu can definitely switch to adult food at this time. I have seen many healthy cats on Merrick and it appears to be a quality food. I also like and trust Purina as well (my own cat eats Purina). Fancy Feast is considered a slightly lower quality, but I have seen many cats do well on it. As with any diet switch, switch slowly over 3-5 days to prevent stomach upset. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Baluu!

Hello and thank you for using Boop by Petco. The Merrick food is not the same as the Hill's Metabolic. Merrick weight management will be a limited calorie diet whereas Hill's Metabolic is formulated to help the dog's metabolism for weight loss. Weight loss can still be achieved with a lower calorie food like the Merrick but it may not happen as quickly and you may have to feed significantly less Merrick (in volume) than you are used to feeding with the Hill's Metabolic. Usually An all canned food diet (using a light or low calorie canned food) would help you achieve more weight loss than a kibble or dry dog food. Another option, would be to look at a website like balanceit.com for a home cooked diet recipe as home cooking is a more "natural" way of feeding and can help with weight loss. If you decide to do a home cooked diet you do need to make sure you have a balanced recipe which is why a website like balanceit.com is so helpful. Good luck to you and Douglas!

It's really important to consider your sources when it comes to information about pet foods. For example, a popular pet food "review" website here in the US is run by a human dentist with no veterinary training. I recommend feeding balanced diets that meet the World Small Animal Veterinary Association nutrition guidelines (https://wsava.org/global-guidelines/global-nutrition-guidelines/). Examples of these good quality brands, which I recommend, include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, Iams and Eukanuba. All of these brands have been formulated by a veterinary nutritionist and have been appropriately tested. I think Royal Canin (or one of the other brands I'd mentioned) is a much better option than Merrick. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I highly recommend Science Diet Metabolic Weight Management Diet. This diet works great for weight loss. It is better to follow the feeding amount per weight provided in the bag split up in 2 feedings. Good luck and have a great day!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! There is diet that would be perfect for him because it can help him lose weight and it is also well-balanced. It is the Science Diet metabolic weight management diet. If you wish to not use a weight loss diet then any of the Science Diet foods for adult cats would be great for him. Good luck and have a great day!
