How often should dogs receive dorzolamide and timolol eye drops for glaucoma?
Hi and thank you for using Boop by Petco. Dorzolamide is typically used every 8 hours and Timolol is typically used every 12 hours. However, this may change depending on the severity of the glaucoma and clinical results achieved. I would defer to your veterinarian for dosing protocols and instructions.

No- they are not working against each other and no- the Optimune did not cause it. The Optimmune increases the body's tear production which keeps the clear part of the eye-the cornea- moist. If it gets dry- it suspectible to injuries & gets secondary changes. Glaucoma is caused by increase pressure in the vitreous (the ball part of the eye) which is different than the tears. Hopefully it is the same medication, although there have been lawsuits about mislabeled and counterfeit medications with online pharmacies. Also, you do need a prescription from your veterinarian in order to purchase these products. I would recommend visiting with your veterinarian, as there is a possibility they may price match for you. If my cat was prescribed dorzolimide three times daily and timolol twice daily for glaucoma , would I be able to use the combination timolol and dorzolimide drops as opposed to 2 seperate drops? He is also on prednisolone drops. Having so many drops
The general answer to your question is yes. The caveats are that Timolol comes in 2 different strengths, so you need to make sure that the combination product is the same strength that he is currently gettting. The other thing you need to discuss with your veterinarian is that since he is getting Dorzolamide 3 times a day and Timolol only twice daily is if you will still need to keep a separate bottle of Dorzolamide for the 3rd daily dosing. My pet was prescribed trusopt for the pressure in her eye which has taken her sight. Its not certainif this is permanent. How long before I might see a glimmer of improvement if there is to be any?
Hello. Trusopt is used in the treatment of glaucoma, a multifactorial disease that results in increased pressures in the eye. If her sight is already gone, then this might be permanent, I'm afraid. If the pressures can be brought down, there is a small possibility that she may regain some vision, but there is no real time frame as so much depends on how long the condition was present before starting therapy & how much damage has already occurred. Stay in close contact with your veterinarian & hopefully with time ( a few weeks or so ), she may regain a little of her vision back. The key now is to prevent further damage that might result in her losing the eye completely. I hope Bell does well & thanks for using Boop by Petco.
