Cephalexin is widely available in India under the brand name Keflex, Acfex and many more. Your local pharmacy shop should carry it or be able to order it. You should ask your pet doctor to call the pharmacist to organise it for you. Amoxicillin /Clavulanate is not an antibiotic specifically for skin infections and will not work properly for your dog's infection. https://www.medindia.net/drug-price/cephalexin.htm

Cephalexin and Simplicef are both cephalosporins, so they are the same group of antibiotics, but cephalexin is the generic name for a 1st generation cephalosporin and Simplicef is a trade name for Cefpodoxime which is a 3rd generation cephalosporin (so it is a newer drug) and works better in some circumstances. Here is more information on both drugs. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=538 https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=2038 I hope that was helpful! Thank you for using Boop by Petco! Cephalexin is a commonly used antibiotic and has minimal side effects. Most of the side effects have to do with intestinal signs - mild nausea, diarrhea, or decreased appetite - all of these can be causing Chicharito to be a little bit less active. In rare cases, cephalexin can cause kidney damage, but this is in dogs who already have kidney disease. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have regarding your pets medications!

Yes, you can definitely give the oral antibiotics and apply the dermalone ointment at the same time. I would apply the ointment 2-3 times a day for at least the next 7 days and finish the entire course of antibiotic (give with food). Something else that can help is bathing every 2-3 days for 2 weeks with a medicated antibacterial shampoo such as Malaseb (available on chewy.com and petco.com), although your vet probably has a similar medicated shampoo that you can pick up from their office today leave the suds on for 5-10 min prior to rinse to allow the medicated shampoo bto have the greatest effect. Purchasing a probiotic from your vet as well can help prevent diarrhea from the cephalexin. Good luck!

Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Boop by Petco to recommend giving a prescription drug without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for Cleo. Typically antibiotics are not given to treat hot spots unless there is a secondary infection, treating them requires a steroid cream that is available by prescription only from the vet. I would take Cleo into the vet first thing Monday to have the hot spot treatment. In the meantime, you can give her an Epsom salt bath to see if that gives her temporary relief, and put an Ecollar on her to keep her from licking at it and making it worse. You can get an Ecollar from a pet store or make one at home: http://dogsaholic.com/care/homemade-dog-cone.html
