Human doses and animal doses can be very different, which may be why this seems like a high dose to you, but for a dog this size this is not a high dosage. The dose can range anywhere from 12 to 30 mg per kg of weight depending on the pet, condition, etc.

Cephalexin and Simplicef are both cephalosporins, so they are the same group of antibiotics, but cephalexin is the generic name for a 1st generation cephalosporin and Simplicef is a trade name for Cefpodoxime which is a 3rd generation cephalosporin (so it is a newer drug) and works better in some circumstances. Here is more information on both drugs. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=538 https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=2038 I hope that was helpful! Cephalexin is widely available in India under the brand name Keflex, Acfex and many more. Your local pharmacy shop should carry it or be able to order it. You should ask your pet doctor to call the pharmacist to organise it for you. Amoxicillin /Clavulanate is not an antibiotic specifically for skin infections and will not work properly for your dog's infection. https://www.medindia.net/drug-price/cephalexin.htm

Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco. Unfortunately there is no way to accurately dose a 7lb dog with a 250mg capsule of cephalexin. I'm sorry. The best option is to see a vet for antibiotics for her weight. Kisses to Nini!

Cephalexin can be given up to three times daily. At 15mg/lb, Mojo could get up to 2160mg total per day. Discuss your concerns with your veterinarian. You may see some stomach upset, but this is common for antibiotics.
