Cephalexin can be given up to three times daily. At 15mg/lb, Mojo could get up to 2160mg total per day. Discuss your concerns with your veterinarian. You may see some stomach upset, but this is common for antibiotics.

Cephalexin is widely available in India under the brand name Keflex, Acfex and many more. Your local pharmacy shop should carry it or be able to order it. You should ask your pet doctor to call the pharmacist to organise it for you. Amoxicillin /Clavulanate is not an antibiotic specifically for skin infections and will not work properly for your dog's infection. https://www.medindia.net/drug-price/cephalexin.htm

Cephalexin and Simplicef are both cephalosporins, so they are the same group of antibiotics, but cephalexin is the generic name for a 1st generation cephalosporin and Simplicef is a trade name for Cefpodoxime which is a 3rd generation cephalosporin (so it is a newer drug) and works better in some circumstances. Here is more information on both drugs. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=538 https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=2038 I hope that was helpful! While none of the medications that Katie is taking will interact with cephalexin, this antibiotic is not generally very effective for treating urinary tract infections. Since her UTI in January was (I assume) resistant to some antibiotics, there is a concern that a new potential infection may be as well. Giving unnecessary or ineffective antibiotics only serves to create bacterial resistance to some antibiotics. Katie should go to her vet for a urinalysis and urine culture so that the most appropriate antibiotic can be chosen for the bacteria present. I hope that she's on the mend soon!

Hello. Cephalexin is a very common antibiotic used in pets & usually does not cause a problem, but your dog may indeed have a sensitivity to it. I am glad you held off giving the medication this evening, but I would try it again tomorrow morning about 30 minutes after she eats. If she holds it down, great but if she vomits then your veterinarian will need to prescribe another antibiotic on Monday if necessary. Continue the steroid as this is the more important medication. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
