You will need to have something to nestle the bottom of the legs into, or hold on to it, or thing of another solution. This ladder is not weighted well and my adolescent cockatiel wants to stand on a top-side. I think her feet feel more comfortable on the sides than the middle. I have been trying to intigrate this ladder into playtime with my cockatiel for three months. She is young, so i will continue to set it out from time to time to see if we can somehow play with it or at least chew on it. She only weighs 80 grams right now and I feel like the ladder should be able to stand and not fall on its side with that amount of weight!

This ladder is one of our gerbil's favorite chew toys. And the best part is that it only needs replacing once every 3 weeks or so when it has finally been destroyed! :)

Fir wood is soft wood, and soft wood is bad for rodents. Get safer hard wood items.

He goes under it, over it and sometimes tips it over, it's a nice addition to the hamster's cage and rinse and dries out during my Saturday cleaning.

My dwarf hamster likes it but she can fit in between the ladder rungs and wiggles out at the top to the bottom. Is this safe for my dwarf hamster? Won’t she get caught?

Not without breaking it lol... But , depending on how high of a ramp, you can buy a bendable bridge and use it as a ramp.
