This box has no indentation for eggs and smelled horrible. I am not sure if the smell is the wood or the glue, but any strong odor can be toxic to birds. I like a side opening top best, but this would have been okay if it didn't stink so bad. I will not buy this again.

I bought this nest for my budgies and it ended up having the perch inside the box. It was not only inconvenient but disappointing.

The lid is supposed to be hinged using a cheap nail. Door Dash delivered a broken one. Petco pulled this off the shelf and sent it like this.

This isn't bad for the money, but make sure you get one with the perch on the proper side if you have it shipped lol. I had to saw it off for my birds to use it as a nest.

What is the diameter of the entrance hole.

  1. Hi lrgonzales, Good day! The entrance hole diameter is 2”. Thanks,

Is this nest box fit into the cage of parakeets of two.

  1. This is a cockatiel breeding box. They do carry one for parakeets.

Is this box made from pine? If so, is it kiln dried?

  1. It does seem to be made from 1/4 " pine but whether kiln dried , i have no idea. Nicely done though.

Is the perch suppose to be inside

  1. No, you're supposed to push it through to the front.

i bought one but the perch seems to low for the bird to access the hole? How does she get in the hole to get in the box? She just stares at it from the other perch in the cage. She already had two eggs, i put them in the box, should i wait?

  1. Hi Hieber01, The parakeet should be able to use it’s beak to reach the entry hole. Thanks,

How do you attach to the cage? Will a screw and a bolt work?  Thanks!

  1. Hi Pet lover 8, A bolt and nut will work. It would also be recommended to use a washer(s) to make it easier securing it to the wire cage body. Thanks,

Will this fit inside a medium sized bird cage?  And is there a way to secure it to the cage itself? Thanks!

  1. Hi Parakeet88, Here are the dims; Outside measurements – 6 3/8 x 8 x 9 1/2”H Inside measurements – 5 ½ x 6 ¾ x 7 5/8”H Thanks,

Can it nest 2 parakeets

  1. One pair, yes.

Can I use this nesting box for parrotlets?

  1. No hole is too small.

I want to get something to hang so humming birds can come by and have there babies, what do you suggest.

  1. Hummingbirds don't use nest boxes; they generally build a nest in the fork of a tree branch out of lichens and spider webs. If you want hummers to nest in your yard, provide bird baths w/ splashing water (very shallow, of course) and plant lots of nectar-bearing tube shaped flowers and offer hummingbird feeders with plain (no red dye) sugar water - one cup water + 1/4 cup sugar.
