I bought a Furminator for short haired dogs after my girl's bath earlier this week. She's starting to shed due to the change in weather. Though, I've noticed some complications with her fur. The hair on her lower back and shoulders comes out easily, which is great! However, the hair on her mid back is more coarse/rough and takes more effort to comb. Is there something wrong? I have always used a Dog Comb to comb the Winter coat from my dogs - both long and short-haired breeds. Now, there is the Furminator. I tried it, and I find the Dog Comb is better to get the Undercoat combed off the Dog. I find you have to use the Furminator, which is too sharp, to brush them down to the skin, irritating the skin. What is your opinion on combing out Winter Hair on Dogs? (long and short breeds). I used to groom all sorts of breeds of dogs, using a Dog Comb.
