Tetra Aqua Safe is a pond water conditioner and DE chlorinator that's essential for all pond keepers. Standard tap water contains chemicals and metals that can be harmful to pond fish. Tetra Pond Aqua Safe quickly eliminates chlorine and chloramines and binds and detoxifies heavy metals. It converts standard water into "pond water" so fish and plants can flourish. Tetra Pond Aqua Safe contains iodide for more vitality and readiness to spawn. This liquid formula also provides a colloid coating to protect sensitive fish gills and membranes. For outdoor ornamental ponds only. For new ponds or whenever adding tap water, use 10 mL for every 50 gallons of tap water, or use 1/4 cup for every 300 gallons of tap water. To calculate pond gallons, use the following formulas: length in feet x width in feet x average depth in feet = cubic feet; cubic feet x 7.5 = pond gallons. If chlorine levels in your tap water are high enough that you can smell the chlorine, use up to double the standard dosage.

  • - Makes tap water safe: Pond water conditioner and DE chlorinator.
  • - Removes harmful substances: Takes out chlorine and chloramines and binds and detoxifies heavy metals that can be found in municipal water supplies.
  • - Improves vitality: Contains iodide for more vitality and readiness to spawn.
  • - Protective coating: Liquid formula provides a colloid coating to protect sensitive fish gills and membranes.
  • - For outdoor ornamental ponds: Use in new ponds or whenever adding tap water.

Fish Killer

I have an approximately 3000 gallon garden pond. I used the Water Clarifier this past spring and it cleared the water and did not harm the fish. I recently used again and while it cleared the water the product killed 80/100 minnows and 5/30 Comet goldfish. Both times I followed the directions on the label. Last year I started with 10 minnows and 12 Comets, so this is a devastating loss. According to online reviews, about 10% have experienced a similar die-off of fish. I hope that the remaining fish survive since I cleaned the two pumps and filter for a second time and replaced as much of the water as possible.

Granted, our pond is pretty dirty this spring but 2 treatments with the pond clarifier did nothing to improve its appearance. Waste of money for us.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Just received my Pond Pump Pre-Filter but have no idea how to install on my Pondmaster Mag Pump because there are no installation instructions included in the packaging. I'm sure it will work just fine IF I can get the thing installed.

I have purchased several different products including very expensive ones for our pond without any luck in clearing up our water. Our water was looking very murky and couldn't see our koi and goldfish. This was also due to poor construction and dirt getting into our pond during rain. As soon as you put this product in you can start seeing it in action clump up whatever is floating around and weighing it to the bottom of the pond. It cleared my pond up and has lasted several weeks now.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have a new pond with a UV biofilter. First few weeks it was green then tea brown. After adding a few floating plants and using this clarifier it was cleared. Even the walls were clean. Highly recommend if you are pulling your hair out like I was!!!

This product is the best I've found on the market and the quickest working too. It does what it advertises to do. I added the recommended amount and in 24 hours there was a remarkable difference. It will clump the smallest partials of algae together so it makes it very easy to skim the surface with a fine mesh net. The results are great and if you don't see the results you want it is safe to use again. I would definetely recommend this to anyone experiencing green water or murky water conditions. A great product I will use again.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 3 of 3 Questions
Sort by: Newest Answers

Will this harm the beneficial algae?

  1. Algae isn't beneficial? It's considered a nuisance. This product will only affect whatever is floating in the water, causing it to be murky or cloudy. It won't affect algae on the sides of the pond.

Is this product harmful to birds? They often drink from my pond.

  1. Not in a fully diluted form. Keep birds from the pond for several hours so it can fully mix and become diluted. It also helps to spray the water surface with a hose after pouring it in.

Turtle Tank

  1. Thank you for your inquiry. This product is for outdoor ornamental ponds only and we do not recommend using in a turtle tank.
