Worked okay in vivarium. Wish I had more info.

I did not buy this product for an outdoor pond. I cut it up into smaller pieces for water control in my large ball python vivarium. I knew it was non-toxic for fish and plants, so theoretically non-toxic to snakes. Using pieces of the pond liner I created a mini waterfall and pool. I used pieces underneath the substrate to direct water runoff and prevent subterrestrial water pockets. I also used it to prevent water from entering the hide directly above the under-tank heat mat and creating an environment with too high humidity. Unfortunately, I was unable to confirm if the small areas of exposed PVC would irritate the snake or not when she suddenly passed away before finishing. But- as far as I could tell the PVC did not deteriorate at all in the area over the heat mat (85 degrees Fahrenheit directly applied heat, 24/7) or anywhere else in the tank. It did its job directing water flow and the plants were happy. I can't speak to the longevity, I took down the tank after the animal's death. The tank was set up for around 4 months. In the future, I will create similar builds. I don't think one star is a fair review on this product, but I decided to rate with three stars (average product) instead of four or five because I was disappointed with the lack of useful technical information on the product packaging that I was expecting to be present. Such as: what temperature ranges (surface or ambient) the material can tolerate consistently without warping or degrading, if the material would produce any chemical fumes when it reaches a certain temperature, what waterproof and long-term adhesive products (such as aquarium silicones or tapes) are/aren't recommended, what chemicals/substances will compromise the material integrity, tensile strength, etc. The package I purchased only had basic instructions covering the entire backside of the insert for creating a pond and waterfall instead of the more specific and technical parameters but I was unable to see this until after purchasing and opening. I did end up visiting the website mentioned on the back which had good general pond information but still did not have the specific usage directions I was looking for. This information is very important to me when I am working with my plants and animals so not having it is a detriment to any product. I recognize that I could call/email Tetra customer service or make a request in the Q&A section on the listing here. That may solve my individual case, but it is my opinion that at least the basics should be on the packaging with any additional details listed somewhere online by Tetra in an easily found location. I think this would help many people besides myself and greatly improve my trust in Tetra's products to do the job I am asking them to do. Or, I'll at least know that they're incapable of doing it before purchasing and without needing to waste time/material running my own tests. I'm sure Tetra already has most of this information from when they developed the product. It would definitely encourage me to source this product from Tetra for future projects if at least some of this information was directly accessible to me. I also think that by including this information Tetra would be able to market to and retain a much wider customer base including the terrarium, reptile, hydroponic, indoor garden, and other hobbyist crowds that depend on the type of data mentioned above for their projects. One last note I'd like to make is that the back of my package insert says there is a 20-year warranty against disintegration and material faults/failures for Tetra PVC Pond Liners (not punctures/tears). However, the front of the insert and this current online listing says 15 years. I'm not sure which warranty duration is valid for my product or if this is a misprint. It would be nice to have a version of this product with a faint square-inch grid pattern for easy sizing, but that's not a complaint and did not factor into the rating. I do find Tetra products to be generally reliable with isolated quality issues when using them over the years. Review date: 05-24-2021; purchased the 7'x10' PVC pond liner in November of 2020 from an in-person retailer. I will update this review in the future if some of the points I made are addressed.
