Compatible with Booster Seat

I bought one of these about 10 years ago for my dog and it has lasted. It's not the most comfortable for an everyday harness but I like that I can buckle him in to keep him safe in the back seat while I'm driving distraction-free.

Great car harness

The harness is true to the photos, arrived promptly and was easy to adjust to fit well. We used it for the first time yesterday in the car and our little one was comfortable and secure. Very happy with our purchase!

Does exactly what I need!!

Sam and Wesley

Keeps my little guy from climbing into my lap, knocking the gear shift, chewing the cup holders, climbing around the car, finding obscure trash, and all around being a safety hazard! Downside is he kind of hates it-- but at least he's safe!!! (especially for our semi regular 8-12hr road trips to visit our family....) Some more background, my little guy Wesley is about 6 months old, 13lb corgi/cavalier mix. He's very short and long, but dense and wide shouldered. I still can't find him a good walking harness bc they never seem to fit right! I'm still not sure I've adjusted this harness completely correct, but I do love its adjustability for weirdly proportioned dogs!! I also don't think Wes loves the way it keeps him from getting properly comfortable laying down on the seat-- he likes to sprawl out on his side and the way the harness is attached to the seat belt limits his mobility for rolling around and getting comfy. (Honestly though, not a downside that he can't roll around a lot, I'd rather him not be a projectile!!) I was a little worried about the metal slip clips and being able to get them on while Wes fidgeted, but they're generally pretty easy to get on and off quickly! I'm debating seeing if I can find a double sided short stretchy extender or something so I can give my little guy a little more ability to adjust his position. Something to attach the harness to the seatbelt and give him a few extra in he's between him and the belt. (This may only be a problem because of how small and lightweight he is, so he can't pull the seatbelt very much on his own.)

My favorite car harness

Poodley

All 3 of my dogs wear a Kurgo harness in the car. I never have to worry about distracted driving when my dogs are safely buckled in with their seat belts. These harnesses are also Houdini-proof and even my smallest dog can’t slip out of it. I use them for hiking and transport since I don’t have to worry about my dog getting out of the harness.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! Though any harness can be backed out of by a very determined dog due to the nature of how they fit, we are so happy to hear that these harnesses have been such great fits for your dogs that they have deterred escape attempts.

Saved my pups life

I was recently T-boned by a car going 65 MPH which struck me on the B-pillar (between both doors) on the passenger side. My Cocker Spaniel was in the front passenger seat and tethered in using his Kurgo harness. He only received a small cut on his leg due to plastic shards from the interior. This is truly a life-saving device for dogs. I will never use anything else for my dog. Thank you Kurgo for all the thought that went into designing your products.

Safety First

My sweet puppy outgrew her last safety harness. There is no other product that compares to the quality of this product. I know my girl will be secure in her seat in the event of an accident and won’t be thrown from my car. I love the new color and chose the purple one. It is perfect.

Tru fit

I want to like this harness and tether but the buckles are difficult to secure and it’s hard to find a good fit on my dog. He’s small, (14 lbs) and he’s completely slipped out of the harness twice! I’ll keep trying because it seems so well made.

Best crash tested harness

I love these harnesses. They are the most comfortble and versatile safety harness for my 4 Boston Terriers. I can use them on walks, in conjunction with their Kurgo booster seat, and also with my pupsaver car seat. For short car rides, it is so easy to strap them in the back seat!

Can a dog slip out of this harness?

  1. Thank you for your question. If not properly fitted, your dog may be able to slip out of the harness. If you need help with sizing and fitting, please feel free to contact us at Kurgo directly.

I have a 12 weeks old labrador puppy. Neck is 35cm and chest is 50cm. Which size should I purchase that will allow for him to grow as well please.

  1. Hello! Thank you for this question! Based on the measurements the small size will be best for your puppy. Please know this may not allow for much growth. We do not suggest using a harness that is not the right size or fit. Please feel free to reach out to us at 1-877-847-3868 with any additional questions you may have.

we have 7 lb maltese poodle. 2 questions: Does the harness have the plastic clips? Would we order an xsmall or a small size. Thanks

  1. Hi Happyland. This harness has metal nesting buckles. It does not have plastic clips. Most 7 lb dogs would wear a size XS. This size fits lower necks of 9-13" and chests 12-18". For reference the size small fits lower necks 12-20" and chests 16-22".

I have a German Shepard/Border Collie mix 2 month old puppy. What size do you recommend for the auto/traveling harness?

  1. Please review the size chart to find the right fit based on neck and girth measurements. Given the puppy is going to grow significantly you are going to have to size up on harnesses every few months until he hits his maximum size.

What would the appropriate size TruFit car harness be for a pocket beagle with a14"neck and 24" girth who weighs 20lbs?

  1. We would suggest the medium in order to accommodate your dog's girth. You will need to tighten the straps around the neck as much as possible. You can also try the small. Sometimes you need to try the harnesses on and adjust to see which has the best fit.

Where is the harness made?

  1. This is the one you want! Made in USA by a family owned company!

Can your pet lay down while wearing this in the car?

  1. YES! Very comfortably! Mine can actually get down in the floor too!

Where do I take the measurements of my dog's chest- around the dog or just the front section?

  1. Around the thickest part of his chest.

my dog has 28" chest, 15" neck, & weighs about 50 pounds. Should I get a Medium, or can the Large be adjusted downward? She usually wears a medium

  1. it appears the sizes run true based on the pets weight for my dog
