Inaccurate specifications

The bars are not spaced 1/4" apart, they are 1/2" apart, meaning many of the animals this is intended for can escape. Plus the tunnel connector doesn't stay on the cage well and I had to secure it with wire. I paid half price for b this and I still feel like I got ripped off.

Great vacation home for my hamster

Great vacation home for my hamster. I know this is smaller than the 40 gallon aquarium I have at my dorm but while I’m on spring break she seems to be very happy in here. Only issue is the latch on top doesn’t seem 100% secure.

Not sturdy/safe bad part quality leaves gaps

Bought this last night. Very cheap thin plastic that will easily break/ shatter. The tabs are horribly made. The lid as someone else stated doesn't fit and leaves a decent gap that can be pushed open. It looks nice and is an OK size but those are the only pros. Not worth the price. There is a prevue tubby cage that I'm hoping will be better. But it's hard to be worse.

Even though this is an upgrade and can work in some cases it is very cheaply made. I don’t recommend this product because a diy bin cage is better and cheaper. Every cage in petsmart is overpriced for what your getting.

I would give it 5 stars but its been hard to find a wheel to fit the cage and our hamster. He is a big dude and needs a big wheel. Other than that, its a good starter cage. We like that it gives you room for tubes and to grow the space.

my mom likes the look of crittertrails best (still don't know why) so when I found out my old one was too small for my little robo, I went to petco asap to get this for her. it can fit her wheel and essentials and gives her a lot more space to run! if ur gonna get a crittertrail this is the only suitable one I recommend for hamsters.

Pros outweigh the cons

When measured at the base, this cage is realistically 28x16 so it has 448 sq inches of living space, but the pan is a good 6 inches deep. Overall, it has adequate space, and since a lot of people like the idea of tubes it’s nice to have the option.
Assembly is difficult. I’ve kept small animals since the 1980s and have put together dozens of cages. All Crittertrails are hard to assemble and this is no different. It is more secure, once fully together, than some of the smaller cages. I’m also not crazy about the plastic lid because I like to hang things for enrichment, but I can live with it.
I like that it’s lighter weight than an aquarium and more accessible to the average hamster purchaser than a bin cage. There are better options if you choose to DIY your cage, but as far as commercial cages go, this is one of the best.

I love this cage and so does my hamster! I made another port in the wire so I could attach more tubes for her. It fits her large silent spinner (which is not actually so silent, btw) her hideaway, hammock, swing, and is deep enough for a LOT of bedding (this is for the person who said that it was too deep) She also likes climbing up the ramp to her toys on the second floor. Totally recommend this cage!

I purchased a glass KAYTEE water bottle same time as this cage. My daughter (15) said water bottle doesn’t fill right on this cage. Am I missing something? Is there an attachment I can buy? I figured it would be compatible with all KAYTEE habitats?!

I have Five different types of Critter Trail cages. My hamsters are getting older, and some are getting too large to use the existing tubes easily. What can you suggest? I don't want to replace existing cages. Is there a larger tube that fits your lin?

Do you think a teddy bear hamster can squeeze between the wires
- I bought one yesterday and the plastic warped so the lid has a huge gap. The tabs are very cheap and could break easily. Very thin plastic. Returning for a different type of cage. If they made it more sturdy and did the tabs differently it would be a nice cage.
