Looks good till you read the warning label

Looks really nice till I had everything set up and noticed the P65 warning on the box stating: this product contains carbon black which is known to the state of California to cause cancer...who knew an aquarium could contain carcinogens ? I will try to upload photo and can not wait to see how the return is going to go.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Almost 5 stars, but need a few modifications

Just picked up this tank yesterday and I am excited to put it together. Been a fish enthusiast for 25 years now and I had tanks ranging from 2.6 gals to 350 gals and in my opinion, the design of this tank fantastic. There are a few modifications required to make it even better though and I will list them out by most important to the least. 1. Came with a Y adapter for the LED light and water pump. I have a few 12v power adapters laying around so I chose not to use the Y adapter. This way I am put a timer on the LED without affecting the water pump. Also I put an in line dimmer on the power adapter so that I can control the brightness of the light. 2. Ordered 8" x 4" x 1" foam insert online. You will need to search for it, but didn't take me long. The one that it came with isn't good quality. 3. Ordered 100 gram activated carbon bags as I do not like the inserts that was included. 4. Ordered a 75W 1" x 1" aquarium heater. It fits perfectly inside the filter middle slot. These modification made the aquarium so much better. Visually it is so pleasing to the eye with the rimless design with glass top cover. Also the fact that the filter is located inside the tank will help get the aquarium as close to the wall as possible. The only thing I didn't like about the tank is the bottom black trim. Wished it was all glass too, but I tried to put together a similar setup by pieces all the items and it was 2-3 times more expensive. So that price I feel it was a bargain.

No replacement parts

The tank is lovely however, when the filter system motor no longer works, they don't sell replacement parts making the entire filter / light system useless. Beyond that, the filter system is poorly designed and doesn't do a great job to begin with.

Junk. Good looking junk, but junk.

Lid leaves a large gap, and only allows feeding and removal form one corner, instead of a central hole, the light and impeller motor share one cord, so it's impossible to run the light on a timer unless one purchases an aftermarket cord, and my impeller motor has failed after 5 months of use, which is presumably why Imagitarium only offers a 90 day warranty. Absolute junk.

Be careful!!!! Top has some room

we bought this tank from Petco this week for a betta fish as a gift for our niece. It’s beautiful!!! But the top doesn’t cover the entire top, so the fish was able to jump out through a crack overnight. The family had a traumatic morning finding the betta on the ground. The fish is miraculously okay so far, despite being on the ground for who knows how long. This needs a slightly larger lid for small fish!!!

Is this tank okay for saltwater??

  1. I would say possibly. The tank itself could be used both for fresh and saltwater, but saltwater generally needs different filtration and other equipment. If you are just looking for a reasonably priced tank and will change out filtration and light for those more appropriate to saltwater, then this could be used for that purpose

Does this tank come with a lid?

  1. Hi idbbb, Good day! Yes, this kit comes with a lid. Thanks

Can the Light be used without the filter attached on the 9.5?

  1. Hi Kryptik, Good day! Yes these are separate parts. Thanks,

Does this tank have a warranty?

  1. Hi AZ Fishy Good day! We have a 60 day return policy for this product. Please see this link for return policy details https://www.petco.com/returns. Thanks

Is there a timer for the light that is compatible with this set up? Both the light and filter run to a splitter that goes to one plug. I don't want the filter to be on a timer.

  1. Hi pink4tuesday, Good day! We recommend SKU 1320521. Thanks

I have the 6.6 gallon tank and I was wondering if I can fit a small trio of fish, a Betta, and like very few shrimp. ( the trio of fish was given to me by someone else so I know they get along ).

  1. Hi Emlver123, Good day! That is most likely too many fish for that size aquarium and depending on the species of fish they may not be compatible with the betta. Peaceful fish such as tetras, guppies, platies etc… would be fine with a betta. Cichlids or barbs may actually become aggressive towards the betta. It is also not recommended to keep freshwater shrimp with bettas. The betta may try to eat them. Thanks

Does this aquarium have a plastic bottom or glass in the bottom on top of the plastic?

  1. Hi KickinitinFL, Good day! It has a glass bottom on top of the plastic. Thanks

Can I leave the filter box off to use my own filter and can I add my own light? I only need the glass tank.

  1. Hi Cluelessfishhead, Good day! The filter and light are detachable. It is possible to use any preferred filter. Thanks,

Is the filter detachable? I am looking to replace it with a sponge filter.

  1. Hi ryd23, Good day! Yes, the filter is detachable. Thanks

Can someone please tell me which filter goes where in the filter system. I have a blue mesh filter and then the carbon one. The first time I changed the water it was great, changed the filter and I think I put it in wrong. Help!!
