Filter and light are one unit, so you can't put a timer on the light unless you want to also turn off the filter at night. And the filter is really noisy and mine started to malfunction after a month of use. So now I'm replacing the filter and realized that the clip to attach the light is part of the filter, so I guess I'll have to replace the lamp too. So frustrating. Save yourself money in the long run and buy individual parts

Beautiful sleek aquarium. I painted the back black so the filter box and heater I added for my betta just disappear. I am not concerned about others reviewers comments about the lack of replacement filters because I don't use any manufacturers replacement filters. I put my own filter medium in the box such as filter floss sponge and bio rings. I also like the glass top. Yes, it does not fit tight and personally I don't think it should as small openings help with oxygen exchange. The filter even without the manufacturers filter cartridge works great. It cleared the cloudy water from setup within an hour. It also has a fantastic flow control knob right at the top of the filter box. It's the only submersible pump I have ever seen where you can control the water flow from almost nothing to full bore. I've got it on very low flow since this is a betta tank and they don't like strong current. This review is for the 9.5 gallon. I would not hesitate to purchase again.

The item was a good size and it was perfect for it was needed for. I would definitely like to buy a bigger size tank at some point but for now this was a great beginner tank for someone trying to start their aquarium

I bought the 9.5 gallon in September for the few fish I saved from Hurricane Helene. I love the aquarium. I think the entire set-up is wonderful. I think the filter is great, I like the light and the glass lid. The only problem I’ve encountered is that my snails crawl out the feed corner. But so far I’ve been able to just pick them off the top and drop them back in.

Do not buy this aquarium. Petco you should not continue selling this. Replacement filters not available and filter system broke after a few months. Don't buy.

Replacement filters are not available for this aquarium and have not been available for over 6 months. Shame on PetCo for still selling this aquarium and scamming people out of their hard earned money.

I have the 6.6 gallon tank and I was wondering if I can fit a small trio of fish, a Betta, and like very few shrimp. ( the trio of fish was given to me by someone else so I know they get along ).

Hi Emlver123, Good day! That is most likely too many fish for that size aquarium and depending on the species of fish they may not be compatible with the betta. Peaceful fish such as tetras, guppies, platies etc… would be fine with a betta. Cichlids or barbs may actually become aggressive towards the betta. It is also not recommended to keep freshwater shrimp with bettas. The betta may try to eat them. Thanks
