Great for freshwater planted aquariums!!!!!!

Mr Salty

Great for use in freshwater aquariums, all types, all fish. I use several in my planted aquarium which act as an anchor for my anubias. They arrive clean and ready for use. Takes about 1 day for them to adsorb water so they sink instead of float. You may get some shedding film in the first week but it's not harmful and fish will eat it or your filter will take care of it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Death trap!

My betta wiggled herself into it and got stuck! Noticed when I got home from work. My husband was able to cut a hole in it and she got out but not without getting injured. Hopefully she pulls through but immediately threw out this horrible thing! And I see I'm not the only one to experience this!

SMELLS HORRIBLE!

Jasmine J

Bought this for my betta tank for pH values and benefits of water. I thought my snail died it smelt so foul. I immediately took it out and did a 50% water change. It smelt a little better but still need to work to get it out. I also read reviews on how people's bettas got stuck. Don't waste your money. The smell will make you nauseous!

I know the length is 6 inches but what is the width? There are reviews that say it's tiny but other reviews say their Bettas have gotten stuck inside.

  1. I wouldn't say these are ideal props for a betta. The wood isn't wide enough for a betta to swim through, but this is great for shrimp overall.

Does this wood change the water color or lower the PH? Is it a good wood for plecos?

  1. I should add that cholla is not a driftwood but the skeleton of the cholla cactus. Over the last 9 years of using cholla (12 years in the hobby) I noticed minimal tannins; not nearly as much as true driftwood. It's also "short lived" submerged and typically softens at the 3-5 year mark. I recommend using real wood for plecostomus. Cholla will work (it has cellulose and will grow aufwuchs, just not much of either) but it's not ideal and won't last long if eaten. If you want a wood that's better for plecos, will release tannins and last decades, mopani's the way to go.

What is the length of medium?

  1. 6" x 2" diameter

How do I get my cholla wood to stay at the bottom of the tank and not float? Any secret to it?

  1. Just boil it to get all of the microbes off then soak it till it gets water logged  Should sink after a day Good luck
