I was qiving this food on the directions of my vet after our Husky started having seizures. But after being on it our Husky was found to have cancer. After much research and looking at your ingriedents I saw that your #1 ingredient was whole corn, after more looking into this corn that is grown for dog food (and some corn rejected for human food) because of being groun with the pesticide. I believe that contributed to the growth of cancer in my Husky. He still had seizures being on this food also.

My precious 15 yr old boy has canine cognitive dysfunction, and the vet recommended this food back in May. He has now been on it 2 months, and I was hoping to see more improvement. Essentially I've seen minimal. He doesn't go to the hinged side of the door anymore but there are still many days of pacing, getting stuck in various places, restless nights. I truly am skeptical of pretty much all the other glowing reviews. And as dar as someone saying within 4 days they had a new dog I say they're flat out lying. I am likely keeping him on this food for the remainder of his life, and I accept the fact that it just may not provide much benefit for him.

Great food for older dogs that have age related mental decline. It really is a very good smelling kibble and you can tell it is packed with good stuff and vitamins by the smell. It is a prescription diet, so you need to actually get a prescription from the vet. We opted in for this kind of food, as an alternative, for our older dog, rather than getting him on medicine. It works for him and us.

It really helped my dog get over being afraid of even being pet. Seemed to be the only thing that helped. CCD is a terrible disease. I wish I knew sooner about it. Have patience. The food kept her going, even though she couldn’t handle stairs she always continued wanting to go for walks, which we did. Good Luck.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog has canine cognitive dysfunction, is about 15 years old and has about 1/4 of his teeth. We rescued him in 2014 and about a year ago he began to show signs of cognitive decline. An MRI confirmed his diagnosis as canine cognitive dysfunction. The b/d prescription diet has improved his cognitive function. He was getting stuck in corners and this diet has made a marked change in this behavior. It has improved though not eliminated his anxiety. He has never been a picky eater but he does not like this food. He does not care for the flavor. Additionally, the food is very dense and is difficult for him to chew because of his lack of a full complement of teeth. I soak the food, mash it up and add chicken gravy to get him to eat it because it really does help with his neurological symptoms. The gravy causes some gastro-intestinal issues such as straining and loose stools but he will not eat it without the gravy. I do recommend this food but would like to have a soft canned version with more flavor. I would think this kibble density is a common issue since many neurological conditions are more common with elderly dogs. The flavor seems to be an issue for many dogs in other reviews I have read. It works but I need help getting it inside my dog!

Corn is not good for dogs, neither are animal "byproducts." It's a shame that Hills Science refuses to stop putting these harmful things in their food, just to make a profit.

Our 13.5 yr. old Lab had surgery to remove an abscessed molar and afterwards he was very disoriented, restless and needy. Our vet suggested we try this food. Within two weeks he was a different dog. His energy level increased such that he now engages our Papillon puppy in play for up to an hour at a time; whereas before the puppy would engage him and he would only be interested for a few minutes. I still can't believe the difference-it's like he gained two years on his life. Every day is a blessing!
