Most water conditioners work as dechlorinators that remove chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals. Some detoxify ammonia and nitrite which are both harmful to fish. Indian almond aka catappa leaves (or IAL for short) release tannins which darken water to reduce stress as well as humic and other beneficial acids which is proven to induce healing and increase immunity to bacterial infections and other diseases (not including most parasites like Ich). Tinted water via tannins from botanicals such as catappa "conditions" water by adding beneficial elements but doesn't detoxify or dechlorinate. You'd need a separate "conditioner" (try Seachem Safe or Prime) for this.
