Higher quality than I expected

JennyanyDots and Fogs Mom

This fountain lasted three years of constant use, including a few times when we let the water get too low. I would have given it 5 stars if Petco sold a replacement pump because that was the only part that really needed to be replaced. I like that it is easy to put together after cleaning by lining up tabs. The motor pitch changes when the water starts to get low, so I know just walking pawst the room that I need to add more water. The parts are easily cleaned as long as I have a handful of cotton swabs to get into small spaces.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Just my opinion

I’ve been using this fountain for almost 2 years and never had any issues with it. In fact the flower part separates so it’s less overwhelming for my cat. Also you can adjust the height of the flower to create louder/softer drip to attract the kitty. Don’t run the pump dry that’s why they stop working. I’ve read a lot of bad reviews that compelled me to leave my good review. I believe most of the negativity is simply user error. I’m sure not all but if you read the instructions about the filter you’d know to rinse it first so it doesn’t gunk up the waterlines with carbon dust. The pump might last longer if you make sure there is water in it regularly. Usually it lasts about 2-3 days for my one cat. 3 days it pushing it and the pump does start humming when the water level is low. I’ve not noticed any leaking and it’s pretty easy to put together and keep clean in my opinion.

If I Could Return it…I Would.

I wish I hadn’t made it part of my New Years Resolution to “throw away the box” when I get a new product, because I would return this fountain a heartbeat. In fact, I would give it zero stars if I could. Instead, I’m out $50 and am currently looking for new fountains on Amazon. This is by far, the WORST fountain I have ever purchased, and I have tried at least a dozen different fountains over the years. I couldn’t find an updated version of the one I used to use that the motor had blown on, but I can tell you, this one ain’t it. First of all, the water reservoir is SMALL. I have 4 cats and I have to add water to this at least once a day (sometimes more). On top of that, the “water level indicator” is also not accurate at all. It is just a “float” mechanism that rises and falls with the level of the water. However, I’ve noticed that the float will get stuck in one position or the other leading to over/under filling the fountain. There is no other way to visualize/estimate the water in the fountain, without opening it up. If you do make the mistake of trusting the indicator, and end up accidentally overfilling the fountain, it will just pour out the sides of the fountain, leading to a massive puddle around the sides. Similarly, if you pick the fountain up to clean it while there is still water left in it, water will pour out the sides. If you move the fountain to clean it and you try to fill it before you move it to its location, water will pour out the sides. There is nothing securing the top of the fountain to the bottom of the fountain, so if your cat is a clumsy drinker or you have a dog that will also use the fountain and may be a bit more aggressive when it drinks, water will pour out the sides. But it doesn’t stop there. I have had to clean this thing so many times because the “filter” in the motor housing gets bogged down very easily. I say “filter” because it’s really just a little piece of mesh/gauze that sits inside the motor housing to catch dirt/hair etc. When it gets even remotely dirty, like an old man with an enlarged prostrate, the water that is supposed to spray out the top turns into barely a trickle. I finally got tired of having to clean the whole thing every other day to keep the water flowing, that I just took that piece of material out of the motor housing. Unfortunately, now the stream for the fountain is TOO strong and makes too much noise, which is almost more obnoxious than the weak stream. Save yourself the time, energy, and frustration and do NOT buy this fountain.

No, I do not recommend this product.

It wasn't what I expected

I bought this fountain for my cats because it is the way they consume more water, I used it for a week but the water jet has very little power and the petals of the flower are in a certain way that the stream does not fall correctly, therefore it did not work for my cats and I returned it, It's a cute item but for my pets it wasn't functional.

Questions

does the flower height adjust and is there a flow setting?

  1. No and no. I've only had it about 3 weeks and it's also dying already. It makes a constant humming noise when plugged in.

I lost the plastic tube. Can I buy another one?

  1. Hi Leah M N B, Apologies, we do not sell parts. Please contact our Customer Relations department at 877-738-6742 regarding this. Thanlks.

What is the little grey thing that pops up? Does that indicate that it’s too full or needs more water?

  1. That is the "Water level indicator" and it will fall down into the bowl when the water is too low. Keeping the water level too low will shorten the life of the water pump. You want to slowly add water to the top of the fountain - make sure to go SLOW - until the grey float stops rising. It should appear to be completely visible.
