The Dragon Wrasse will go through a drastic morph from juvenile to adulthood. This wrasse can grow to be over a foot in size and will need an aquarium with ample swimming space. Adults of this wrasse will need about 180 gallons; however, juveniles can get away with smaller aquariums. Be sure to provide a thick sandy substrate because this wrasse likes to submerge itself to sleep. Feeding them multiple times a day is recommended as they are very active and keeping them full will help keep them away from desirable inverts. As with other wrasses, they are capable jumpers at all stages of their life, so a covered aquarium is necessary. Juveniles color ranges from brown, green to red with white blotched patterns. The juveniles also have two elongated dorsal spines, which adults do not have. The adults have a brown and white pattern across its body and a thick white band on its caudal tail.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
