I purchased this fluorescent fixture and the 18” T8 plant bulb. Because of the bulb spectrum It provides a very soft light with a reddish tint. The light is on 12 hours every day. I have put in the full spectrum bulb that come with the fixture in order to compare and find that the colors of the guppies, Corydoras catfish, and the plants flatten and look very pretty. However, the plant bulb makes the colors of the fish look spectacular. Guppies like softer light and shade. As a result of using the Aqueon fixture the babies fry can hide nicely and eat ravenously without getting bothered by adults and toddlers. The adults and toddlers are very active. The only thing that I was surprised about was the reddish tint of the plant bulb so the natural gravel looks pinkish but that fish look spectacular.

Light gives the tank a soft color which enhances the color of the fish. Fits my 10-gallon hood perfectly.

Not able to observe much improvement to plants as the light died within 3 months.

I was skeptical about ordering a bulb online via shipping, but it was well packaged and arrived in working order.

Horrible product. I bought 2 bulbs, neither one worked. Will be buying a better product.

Brightens up fish colors also and is supposed to make plants grow better

I bought these to help my planted tank thrive, they were a bit duller in comparison to the full spectrums, but made my red colors POP
