Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! You can give dogs honey but it should be only very small amounts due to the sugar content. I do not think it will do much to prevent allergies though. But to try for that purpose be sure to purchase honey from your exact location. I hope this helps!

Yes. Honey is fine to give. It is a natural anti-inflammatory and can help with some of the inflammation and irritation along her respiratory tract (nose and throat). However she should still receive medical treatment through your vet and get on a short course of antibiotics. Most URI's in pets are caused by multimodal bacteria and therefore need antibiotics to clear.

Hello and thank you for posting your question! In regards to adding honey to the food, I would certainly refrain from doing so. Giving honey to your budgie will be extremely messy and difficult to clean from his beak and wings. I would suggest trying different feeding bowls or getting the food that is already on a string from a pet store. Presentation of the food might need improvement so getting a new feeder may help. Feel free to contact me with any other questions / concerns you may have.

Poor puppy. Puppies are not like humans in this regard. They can have a small amount of honey mixed with warm water to help soothe the throat if puppy is coughing as well. Also a humidifier can help clear up any congestion he may have. Hopefully the Doxycycline will help clear up some of this upper respiratory infection he has going on within the next couple of days. That is likely the real reason they prescribed it to him, because this antibiotic is not routinely given post neuter. I hope your puppy Finley feels better soon!

There is no harm in giving her honey, though it may not help at all. When dogs are in heart failure, or have a history or congestive heart failure or heart disease, usually a cough is due to one of 2 causes-- 1) fluid in the lungs OR 2) the enlargement of the heart pushes on the on the large airways, causing a "tickle" type cough response. Take her in to see your vet. It would be best to have some chest X-rays taken to see if she is in congestive heart failure, and to monitor the size of the heart. If she is NOT in congestive heart failure, your vet may prescribe a cough suppressant medication to help ease the cough. Thank you for asking Boop by Petco!
