Thanks for reaching out about Puffy. Ciprofloxacin ophthalmic drops should be safe but not all antibiotics treat all infections. With a chronic infection, systemic antibiotics might have better results as eye drops will not penetrate deep into tissues. With a protruding eye, a deep infection, tumor, dental disease, and more need to be considered. A veterinary visit is recommended. Good luck.

Hello, & than you for using Boop by Petco. I am surprised that your veterinarian did not give you more specific directions. Withholding water or any fluids for 3-4 hours after giving the glycerin can increase efficacy & hopefully you will not need the second dose, but if it does spike again, give the second dose. make sure you contact your vet first thing tomorrow morning.

Atropine, when used in the eye, relaxes the ciliary body, the muscle that controls pupil size. In this way, it often helps to treat the pain associated with corneal abrasions or corneal ulcers. It does not cause the eyelid to spasm. What you are seeing is called blepharospasm, and it's a response to ocular pain. I would say that if Ripley is having blepharospasm at this point, it indicates to me that there is still pain associated with the initial abrasion. Typically we treat corneal injuries such as she has until we have rechecked them and are sure that they have completely resolved. I would recommend getting her back on the tobramycin and continuing the atropine until you are able to get her checked; preferably Friday or over the weekend.

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) has been used with some success. This procedure involves using sound waves to dissolve or break up the stone. Surgery, however, is the treatment of choice in these cases. Frequently, removal of the entire affected gland is necessary to prevent post operative complications.
