Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Dookie! Since Dookie is young and still eating, drinking, and happy it is likely that he has kennel cough. If he has been around other dogs, boarded or kenneled or goes to doggie day care then it even makes it more likely. If he had something stuck in his throat he wouldn't be eating, he'd be hard swallowing and drooling. Kennel cough is causes by 6-7 different bacteria and viruses. It causes a dry goose honking cough that sometimes causes the cough to be so hard it triggers the gag reflex. This makes it sound like they are trying to bring something up and sometimes they do. Kennel cough is self limiting in a healthy dog. It may take up to 2 weeks for it to go away. Most Vets put dogs with kennel cough on antibiotics and anti-cough medication. If he becomes lethargic, stops eating, starts having nasal discharge and the cough becomes wet he should be seen by your Vet. I wish Dookie the best!

Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. It sounds like an emergency. A visit at your local vets is recommended as soon as possible. The symptoms that Doofy is showing are not specific for one particular disease, but they could be due to stroke, vestibular syndrome, intoxication, twisted stomach. All of these conditions are serious and require immediate vet attention.

It is better not to let Doobie do that as he will get used to sleep with you and will prefer that rather than sleeping in his own place. This behaviour can then predispose to development of separation anxiety as well.

Your correct, it could potentially become dangerous very quickly, especially if the other dog is much larger than Deevo. I would recommend that you keep them safely since you can never be sure if the other dog will hurt Deevo. The other dog could nip and hurt Deevo even without trying. The best way for the other dog to stop attacking Deevo is for his owner to start obedience training to teach him limits. But if his owner is unwilling to do this, the safest place for Deevo is away from the other dog.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is just likely a display of dominant behavior. These types of behavior can improve though this does require in person training with the help of a qualified dog trainer. I would encourage you to contact a dog trainer that can work with you and Tova in person to really take care of this behavior. The sooner these behaviors are dealt with, the more likely it is that you can improve and resolve them. Good luck and have a great day!
