Accidents happen. For the rest of the day try to keep Shadow from being very active. Do not allow her to run or jump and try to keep her activity very minimal. If she seems uncomfortable tomorrow have her examined by her veterinarian. Hopefully it’s nothing more than some soft tissue injury but a fracture is always possible. Watch for continued lameness, significant discomfort or swelling. I hope she feels better quickly and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! If Hachi didn’t lose consciousness then there was no harm done. Dogs are very resilient and hard headed. It was an accident and you didn’t cause any harm. I don’t think his memory was affected. He just might not have heard you or was ignoring you as dogs do! If he’s otherwise acting fine I wouldn’t worry! I hope this helps!

Hi there and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! It is hard to say without examining Chance what may be the cause of his limping but I can offer a few possibilities and next steps. It may be he fractured his paw (from the accidental stepping), he may have an ACL tear or another ligament injury. I would recommend placing an ice pack on the leg ( be sure the pack is in between a towel) for 15 mins three times daily until Chance can see a veterinarian. He may need an x-ray to rule out a fracture or ligament tear. He may need anti-inflammtory medications to help decrease inflammation and pain associated with the injury. I would recommend getting Chance seen by a veterinarian today or tomorrow. Thanks for posting and best of luck to you and Chance!

Sorry . . . there's more to my answer! It printede too soon. Anyway, you do the feeding, walking, bathroom runs, etc. instead of her. The more you do, the more the dog will come to accept you. Good luck with this! If you need additional help, you can click on the prompt to initiate a consult.

A puncture wound to the foot would be expected to be uncomfortable for a while but I recommend you monitor closely for any heat, swelling or discomfort in the leg which may indicate infection or some foreign material still remaining. Bathing in warm salted water may help reduce the risk of infection
