  • - This dry cat food is the only veterinary-exclusive diet that supports kidney health and food sensitivities in adult cats
  • - Helps reduce the risk of skin and GI reactions with proteins that are broken down to a size that's less likely to be recognized by the immune system
  • - Helps compensate for decreased appetite with a highly palatable energy-dense formula to reduce meal volume
  • - The only diet available that's formulated to help cats with both food sensitivities and kidney health needs
  • - Helps promote kidney function with a precise antioxidant complex, fatty acids from fish oil, low phosphorus, and target protein levels

What’s happening ??

Ster

Like most recent reviews something is going on with the food. I had gotten my first bag beginning of July for my big expired July 2026: dark and small. But I noticed when he was eating that he was vomiting more than usual. So I went to get my second bag expired September 2026: light but still small. He’s doing okay with that one but still now sometimes reluctant to eat it and leave bits behind. This food was so good for my boy now I gotta find something that’ll ease his stomach if this production of the food keeps up.

Great Product with a Production Issue

I am grateful for the existence of this food. The batch expiring July 2026, however, was different from the usual -- kibble was smaller, lighter in color, and with somewhat fewer flecks in it (will try to attach my photo -- other review photos clearly show the difference). RC assured my vet, the seller, and me that the formula had not changed. If that's true, then I have to assume the variation was caused by some production issue. It did not agree with Daphne as well as the usual kibble. We were trying to transition her to this lighter formula regardless, since we believed we had no alternative. We ordered another bag, in the off chance that it would revert to the darker color. The batch expiring Sept 2026 is indeed back to normal. We are relieved but feel that given the volume of online complaints over the appearance of the food and cats' reactions to it (see reviews below), RC should have been more proactive in getting more data and recalling the July batch. Let's hope for a more consistent and consistently available product.

Literal lifesaver for my senior cat

Bridgid

My senior cat has a chicken allergy and was diagnosed with CKD last year. I'm so thankful that her vet took the allergy into consideration, as most prescription diets are chicken based. This hydrolyzed formula has been perfect for Ms. Cali. She loves the taste and it is easy for her to eat, even though she has very few teeth. There has been a noticeable (positive) difference in her weight and energy levels over these past few months. I am so grateful for this formula!

Completely changed my CKD cat’s life!

Breebree

My 14 year old has suffered from a chicken and fish allergy her whole life. Until about a year ago, she was on the Royal Canin PR food and did very well on it for years. But, in 2024, she was diagnosed with CKD stage 2. There was basically no other great food option for her but this specialized food. She instantly took to the old formula, but there were stock issues last summer/fall and I had to switch her to Renal F. She did Ok on that, but the kibble was too hard on her teeth and she wouldn’t eat as much of it. Following another health ordeal in the winter in which she quickly lost 1.4 pounds, we got her back on the new formula of this. She loves it! She’s obsessed with it and comes running when she hears the automatic feeder. She’s regained the weight back and we think she’ll put on more weight. The Vet was surprised by her appetite and weight gain. CKD cats don’t tend to regain much weight after they lose it. My cat did have about two weeks of soft poop, followed by a mix for two-three weeks, and then she finally started having firm poop at about five-six weeks on it and it’s been consistently firm since then. The vomiting she used to have on/off with the CKD has basically stopped on this food. Cats with CKD or IBD can experience a much longer period of food transition issues than regular cats do. Give it time.

Complete Turnaround -- My Cat Loves New Formula

Catfacemeowmers

My CKD cat has been on this food for just over a year. I wish I knew the formula was changed, because it gave my cat "food transition" sickness for about a week and I had no warning to prepare -- Y'all could have advertised the change on the packaging prior to the shift, given that this food is for already sick kitties and we need this information for their sensitive systems. My cat had terrible diarrhea, vomiting, etc... and she had just gotten feeling better after a flare up. So, I docked a star for that. That said, my cat stopped eating the old formula when her flare started, and it has been a pain to get her back into it. Her dry food bowl always had kibble in it. Given how much sicker she got despite her diet, I'm hopeful that the new formula will serve her even better. Aside from the obvious color difference, I only noticed the formula changed because my cat went WILD for it. She absolutely LOVES the new formula, and I also think it smells better/more kitty-palatable than the old one. She's recovered from the sudden transition, and now her kibble bowl is *always* empty. For the first week, she even preferred it over her (Hills) KD wet food! Now, she's back to her old feeding behavior from before -- running to the feeder every time it goes off and eating *all* of her kibble. Then yelling at me for more (it never works). It's a relief and a joy to see my cat excited about food again, even though she's now terrorizing me through the night because of it, haha. Just... please do better with informing customers/pet owners about formula changes in the future to prevent unnecessary discomfort and illness!

My cat with multiple medical issues has been eating this for many years and will not touch the new darker color now. I’m at a loss for what to feed her since you changed the product. Please return to the other flavor

Old formula was great

BennyBoo915

The previous formula of this food was fantastic for my senior cat, who has CKD and IBD. He loved it and was finally able to regain a healthy weight. However, after the shortage, I ordered two bags as soon as it became available again, unaware that the formula had changed. Unfortunately, my cat refuses to eat the new version—it’s completely unpalatable to him.

Only food that addresses both CKD and allergy

Robinlove

This is the ONLY (that I am aware of) food that addresses both CKD and allergy. My boy will eat it but is not exactly “crazy” about it. I feel good in that I am feeding him the best possible food for his health issues. I really wish that I could find a wet solution as this is what he’s used to.
