Not a fan of this tank. Light is worthless.

I wish I would have read more reviews! The light went through 3 sets of batteries in 2 days. Now it really doesn’t light at all. We did have one fish die behind the filter in the first 24 hours. So unless I wanted to get another tank, set it up, and then return this….we are stuck with it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Filter Died

The tank is fine but the filter died after 5 months and Aqueon doesn’t sell replacements. The battery for the light needed replacing after very minimal use.

i bought this tank and my fish kept getting caught in the filter, he loved the tank and then he kept getting stuck behind it and he died once i went to bed and left him unattended. he was completely fine before this tank and that filter is not safe for fish.

Cute little aquarium but the light is terrible. It's battery powered and I've had to change them twice in 10 days. I only run the light in the late afternoon/evening l...maybe 5 hours a day total. Not big enough to have more than one fish, I have a big Betta and there's not enough space. Looking to upgrade.

Not worth it

Cheaply made

Filter sucks. I had to buy a whole separate filter, sobs prepared for that. The lights sre so light. Basically looks like the it's off. It's cheaply made, I have one betta and she looks so unhappy. Waste of $$ . Now searching for a better one...

Nice Tank

I got this tank for a Betta and it’s a good size! It’s a little small, and the filter takes up a little more space than I would like. We also couldn’t quite get the lid to fit on properly with the filter, but that could easily be user error. Other than that, it works well for a small tank. It was easy to set up and fits nicely on a desk. The filter is gentle and fairly quiet. I wouldn’t recommend adding too many decorations, it can easily become crowded.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Has anyone found a suitable replacement light option that is more reliable?

Do I need an aerator with this tank?

My 2.5 gallon tank’s filter makes gurgling sounds every once in a while and it is staring to get a bit annoying. Is there any way I can make it stop.

      1. It appears the water level in your fish tank is too low. Please add water so water level is at or above slightly the recommended water level line on the front of the filter to ensure the filter functions properly. If you have questions please contact us at 800.545.1344.

Not enough info came in the box with this item. With the filter provided, how often do I need to change the water? How often do I need to replace the filter cartridge? Lastly, is the filter powerful enough to keep the water properly aerated?

      1. Hi sava2na, We recommend you do partial water changes weekly and change the filter cartridge monthly. Thanks,

I need some kind of heat for this tank; my betta is cold:) What size heater can I use in this

      1. Hi- you need something really small, like a 5 watt heater. They are about $10. Then, be sure to constantly monitor the temp at first so it doesn't get too hot. You can put one of those thermometer stickers on the outside of the tank, about $4. Good luck!

I can't fit the filter on the tank with the lid. What am I doing wrong

      1. There are one small and one smaller u-shaped cutout spaces in the lid. The larger one is a space for the clip of the filter to fit through the lid. The smaller one doesn’t have a listed use that I’ve seen, but works well for a small cord for a heater if you happen to need one. Once everything is lined up the lid will lay closed all the way.

I would love to know if I can use the tank just to simply house my betta fish. The filter and the light that comes with it is not needed I will not use them if I purchase the tank. I had my betta fish for two years now in a regular sized fish bowl.

      1. This tank is not suitable for any fish. Betta fish should have 5-10 gallons at the very least and it is very important for them to have a filter and a light. The only things to put in this tank are maybe shrimp or snails, but even then they would probably do better with more space. If you were to put smaller animals in here you would also need a heater, a thermometer, and maybe an air bubbler as well.

Light stopped working after 2 days.. with brand bew batteries. Called 800 number and they sent a replacement. This one does the same thing! Does not work. Junk! Id there a light at the store I can use for this tank, does anyone know?

      1. i use the light with an android (micro USB) charger and it works fine, the outlet is on the back.

Is there a way to add an aerator along with the filter? My tank came with directions on how to install an air hose and under-rocks bubbler, but I'm not sure it was supposed to come with my tank.

      1. Hi Mustangmike11 This tank does not come with an aerator. That can be purchased separately. Thanks,

Did a big water change in my 10g which accidentally kicked off a huge bacterial bloom can I use this as a temporary holding tank (10 fish) for a few days while I wait for the big tank to recycle? I already have this and would hate to go buy another tank.

      1. Hi Guppygirl0808, This can be used as a temporary habitat, but it would depend on how many fish you have as well. It is important not to over stock the Cumberland as well. Thanks,
