Major difference in my plants!

Fishgirl95

I bought this a month ago for my 20 gallon freshwater planted tank. I have an Amazon sword, anubias plants, and a couple java ferns. Before I put this in my filter my plants had lots of algae growing on the tips and eventually the older leaves would start to get holes in them. I noticed a significant positive difference in the health of my plants they look fuller, greener and healthier. This also makes my water crystal clear. I'm glad I purchased it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Do you use it in conjunction with chemipure elite? I'm new at this stuff, im trying to combat algea so I just purchased the chemipure elite but want to beautify my plants. I have a 10gal fresh water betta tank.

  1. You would typically use one or the other.  I use chemi green because my most of my tanks are planted so I want to keep my phosphates. I use Purigen in my non planted tanks, because It can be rejuvenated   As for your algae problem the tank is outa balance. Perhaps not fully cycled, too much light, too much food, too much fertilizer, over cleaning. Keep in mind algae is the beginning of life. And a good source of food for omnivores. With chemi pure I only do water changes about every 8 weeks or so. Don’t do so many, you are throwing out what you are trying to build in the aquarium. Algaecides are not reccomended. Good luck with your betta. Put some leaves and driftwood in the tank as they like brackish conditions..

Is this filter bag safe for freshwater fish? Or is it just for only planted aquariums?

  1. Per Chemi Pure's website and YouTube specifically endorse this product for Planted and Fish in Freshwater tanks. I would recommend looking into video's for your filter's system, a Hang on back may be better served with a 5.5oz if not above 30Gal, and for stacked filters it may be easier to cover each tray with one size over the other. Chemi Pure's Blue is better for non-planted/ reef or saltwater tanks and Elite for phosphorous reduction for any other combination. These are pre-bagged/washed though a rinse is always safe, dampness in the container is also not unusual.
