This appears to be a good supplement. Glucosamine and fish oils are beneficial in many dogs that may be prone to developing arthritis or other bony disorders as they get older. However, scientific data on these types of supplements is lacking. Similar to humans, they might help and don't hurt anything. If you want to give them to Jesse, that is fine, but I do not routinely recommend these types of supplements in young-ish dogs.

I hate to hear Scrappy is slowing down. My top joint supplements are Dasuquin and Duralactin. Either one to start is fine. Putting him on an omega-3 fatty acid would also be beneficial. Just make sure to get a dog version as the human versions can have xylitol which is toxic to pets. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi Annette! Managing arthritis can be tricky since Joe's kidneys did not seem to tolerate some of the more traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) like Metacam. I'm glad to hear that Joe is taking a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement, like YuMOVE, as this can protect his joint cartilage against further damage. Make sure that you are keeping him at a healthy body weight, as overweight dogs have more stress placed on their joints. Other strategies for managing arthritis include talking to your vet about a trial with Adequan injections for further cartilage protection or new classes of NSAIDs (such as Galliprant) that are much more sparing of the liver and kidneys. Acupuncture and water therapy can also be beneficial for some dogs with arthritis. I hope this helps!

Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! I hope Chloe is doing well. Joint supplements are never a bad idea especially in the larger breed dogs. Joint supplements of course vary widely so I always advise clients to look at Nutramax Laboratories. They use pharmaceutical manufacturing standards, pure products, test every product for purity and content, etc. They make human and veterinary products which are very high quality. Here is a link to their website- http://www.nutramaxlabs.com/ I trust them with my pets and my clients pets since they produce high quality products and are pushing for FDA regulation of the supplement industry. I don't think it's too early to be treating Chloe if you don't mind spending the extra money on her. Turmeric and Cumin are also very big for arthritis or joint problems because they are anti inflammatory, also Boswellia. Fish oil is also used since the essential fatty acids are anti inflammatory. Good luck with Chloe.

Happy holidays to you, too! Joint supplements can be helpful to support the joint and minimize further damage, but they won't make current joint issues go away. I would discuss other medications with your vet. In a young dog with hip pain, I would do x-rays to look for hip dysplasia or other bony changes. Your vet may also have a recommendation for a different supplement for long-term use.
