Your pet reptile needs to feel cozy and comfortable in its home which means having the right reptile lamps. Help keep your reptile happy day and night with Petco’s variety of reptile light fixtures—such as dome lamps, habitat hoods, clamp lamps and reptile light stands—providing the right kind of light for your pet.
UVB light is the most important, as this mimics the light the animal receives in their natural habitat and enables them to produce vitamin D3—necessary for absorbing calcium. The amount of UVB light that reptiles need varies. UVA light may also be necessary to encourage natural behaviors such as breeding and eating. Just make sure you replace your reptile UVB light according to the manufacturer’s recommendation—as the amount of UVB light in fluorescent bulbs decreases over time.
Some sun- and heat-loving reptiles—like a bearded dragon, desert iguana or tortoise—will need dedicated reptile light bulbs with higher amounts of UVB light and emit more heat. Others, such as nocturnal reptiles or those that spend more time in forested habitats, may only need regular light bulbs with varying wattage. Check out our guide to choosing the right reptile heat lamp to help you decide what’s best for your pet.
Some reptiles may need blue light at night, while others prefer darkness for proper sleep. Research your pet’s natural environment and consult your veterinarian to determine the type of night lighting needed. If your reptile needs heat at night, adjust your home’s thermostat or purchase a nighttime heat lamp to manage its temperature more accurately.
Most LED lights don’t emit UV light or only give off tiny amounts. If your reptile needs high amounts of UVB, purchase a dedicated reptile UVB light. LED lights are typically used for insects.
Don’t leave your reptile UVB light on at night, as it can disrupt your pet’s natural circadian rhythm, which affects disposition, appetite and overall health. Some reptiles might need a moonlight lamp, which emits a dark blue light, especially if they are nocturnal.

I am about to get a crested gecko and have done lots of research, but am nervous I'll kill my crestie. You see, lots of people have different opinions about additional lighting. 1 breeder said a heat lamp killed many of his crested geckos, while another breeder said it killed her geckos when they DIDNT have a heat lamp. Should I get a heat lamp? (My tank is a 12 by 12 by 18, of that helps at all) Also, should that size tank be good for 1 crested gecko for his entire life?
SO i am thinking about getting a leopard gecko, but i am not spending a ridiculous amount of money on a cage so i am using a plastic laundrey hamper that seems about maybe 10 gallons and i am setting up little hiddy spots and stuff but i dont know wha tbeedding i should use and how much light they need please hep :)

My snake has lumps on his body. He had mites a month ago and I put him in quarantine and treated him twice with Jurassi Mite. Since then I haven't seen any mites. He also recently got a new CHE bulb over his tub. I'm wondering if they are infections from the mites or burns from the bulb. He's 5 years old and I adopted him 2 months ago. Please help.
Hi, my hatchling red foot tortoise has a problem with keeping his eyes open for very long, he hasn't been eating as much as usual and when he closes his eyes I have to soak him in water to get him to open them back up. When his eyes close it almost looks like they are crusty. I have a cypress mulch and jungle mix substrate in his cage which is about 4 inches at the highest and 1 inch in his basking are but it's kept well watered. Thank You!
I have a new Ball Python that eats allright, but it stays in it's hide all the time, day and night. I keep the temperature gradient consistant. The hide is the black square with a hole in one end. I feed him in a separate clear habitat. The substrate is aspen bedding wich, consists of perfectly square 3mm pieces that stick to every thing it comes in contact withincluding the snake wich is covered. I have to mist more than seven times a day to keep the humidity above 40%. One quart at a time.

Do my snakes eyes look unusual?
I adopted a sick Leopard Gecko from a local pet store. The pet store doesn't take good care of Leopard Geckos. They have dried Mealworms, no calcium, no humidity, and their all crowed in one hide. My Leopard Gecko Geo wasn't eating Mealworms or Crickets. She is underweight and her tail is skinny. I started to get concerned so I started syringe feeding her daily with ReptaBoost. Today I saw her throw up some of the mix. It looks like she was struggling to regurgitate. Also the humidity is high.
