Will this work for an red claw crab

  1. Hello! Yes, the Zilla Mini Halogen Reptile Dome Heat Lamp would work for your Red Claw Crab!

Can I use this on a dimming thermostat?

  1. No, this cannot be used with a dimming switch. Most bulbs and fixtures are not compatible with dimmers. You will need to search for bulbs designed specifically to be used with dimmers. If it doesn't say on the packaging that it's safe to use with dimming devices always assume that it is not. It's best to be entirely certain because using incompatible bulbs/fixtures can be a very serious fire hazard and could even cause bulbs to explode causing a great risk of injury to your littles. Hope this is helpful!

I have my beardie in 120gal tank. A 150w bulb only brings temps to mid 80's. Would adding this dome and a 50w halogen bulb bring it up 10 degrees or more?

  1. i have found that keeping a towel or cover over the half of the tank that is letting air through helps! but yes it probably wouldn’t hurt to add another bulb. just make sure that the tank can still breath if you do add a towel or cover.

could i use this in a standard 10 gallon for a basking spot for frogs? leopard frogs to be exact

  1. Hi there! Yes, you can!

how much electric does it use

  1. Hi there! Whatever wattage bulb you run is the amount of electricity you would be using.

Can this dome be used with a 40watt nano ceramic heater ?

  1. Hi there! This dome is designed to be used with halogen bulbs only.

Does this lamp emit and uvb?

  1. This does not emit UVA or UVB. To find a fixture that works for your needs, we recommend giving the Zilla Consumer Care team a call at 1-888-255-4527. They'll be able to assist you!

just wondering the actual dimensions of this (height and diameter)

  1. Hello! The dimensions for this mini halogen dome are 4.25" x 4.25" x 3.75". Please contact the Zilla Consumer Care team at 1-888-255-4527 with any further questions or concerns.

Would this work on an Exo Terra Rainforest Terrarium 12 x 12 and 18" tall? It houses a red eyed treefrog in my preschool classroom and he needs more heat than what the heat pad provides. If so, would a red 25 watt be the right watt? Thanks!

  1. This should work out for you (with the 25w bulb). Some watch-outs... The fixture cannot be against or over the plastic framing on top of the terrarium. Be cautious with décor right under the basking area as the heat will be very intense right bellow the bulb.

Looking for a heat lamp for a Monk Parrot - these birds normally live 20 years but ours is in his 30s and needs additional heat. We have been using an ordinary incandescent lit and am looking for an alternative. Can you make a product recommendation?

  1. A ceramic heat emitter is best to use for birds. This light is a little too focused for a parrot.
