Questions
Will this work for a hamster?
- It could with a low temperature bulb. You can also try heating pads where you can regulate the temperature.

Will this work for my African sulcata tortoise?
- Do your research. Dont just blindly believe what someone on the internet tells you. Fond out what temp you need and see if the light provides that. Find out if you need direct or indirect heating for this little guy don’t expect the Internet to do all your work for you.

would my leopard gecko be able to use this?
- Yes! I've used them for my leos for a while now and they put out a good amount of heat so that my leos are comfortable but not over heating.

I wanted to buy this for a CHE and the details say it’s for Ceramic heat emitters and mercury vapor bulbs. And some of the reviews do too. I was able to read the box itself and it says it is not intended for either of those bulbs. I’m so confused.
- I don't see why this would be an issue with the actual Fixture, my only personal hesitation would be that depending on what you're using it for that it would either be too hot or not hot enough. CHEs provide more of a surface heat vs a deep heat, so if you're using it for let's say a Leopard Gecko and you're trying to achieve their ideals Basking spot temp of 90 degrees, I'd say go with a "deep heat projector" instead so they get more of a deep tissue heat. If you're using it for ambient heat to just bring the temps up slightly for the air above the tank you'd be good with this. If you're using this for a crested gecko I'd be worried it would get too warm and would 100% make sure you buy a dimmer separately and heat gun to ensure you're not over heating the tank. Really regardless of the animal I'd still recommend getting a dimmer for sure, or if you wanted a dome with built in dimmer there's actually one on this site already by Fluker's that I personally use for my CHEs. I'd also encourage you to look at DHP because they're amazing and SO MUCH better than any of those dreaded "colored" bulbs that no reptile should be subjected to. I wish they'd stop making red, purple, black and blue bulbs to be honest... but I could say that about so many items found in the reptile section at stores... but I digress. Good luck!
