Could of burned my house down!

I bought 3 of these little over a year ago. All three have zoo med powersun bulbs installed and are on 12hrs a day. Thought a bulb burned out but new bulb didn't work either. Noticed soot where the wire comes out of the porcelain. Took it apart to find the wires barely hanging on with burnt crispy insulation. I bought these fixtures for these bulbs as suggested by petco employees. Should have known better; the wires are so thin, I don't know what I was thinking risking our lives like that. I've removed all flukers products...

I bought a spotted gecko for my daughter. A lot of the equipment that he came with started to fail. I bought 2 of these as replacement for the old ones. I really like these & prefer them to the old setup.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I've been using this for two years 24/7 with a 150W ceramic heat emitter and I haven't had any problems. I have it suspended from a ZooMed stand so it gets lots of air circulation, and I also have a thermostat that turns it on and off, so maybe that's why it's never been a problem. About to buy another for a second habitat.

Bulb Killer

This dome is awful. I've have two of these in the span of two months and both of them have destroyed bulbs left and right. After the second bulb with the first dome I returned both and Petco graciously exchanged my items (kudos to them), but now with the second dome its done the same thing. I know my issue is not the outlet, as I have had other things plugged into it (including another fixture for my Uromastyx and my Internet router) and have never had a problem with any of them. I've also had a Dual Deep Dome plugged into the same outlet perviously with no issues. My struggles align with others I have seen, and I am very disappointed as I've only ever heard of good things from Fluker's. I will be buying Zoo-Med from now on.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Local weather dropped quickly...so I purchased the nicely sized Fluker's Sun Dome Reptile Lamp 8.5" Diameter & the Zoo Med Repticare 100 Watt Ceramic Infrared Heat Emitter to help out at night. I loved the same day delivery so I could have it for that night.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good dome, crappy switch

So this is actually my second sun dome. The first I bought and the light wouldn't come on, so I figured it was defective and sent it back to get a replacement. The replacement did the same thing until I switched it on and off again like twenty times. Then it switched on. I even thought it was the bulb and switched bulbs on the first and second one. This one I hate turning off every night because I don't know if it will switch back on in the morning. I just changed the plug to be in a better surge protector and it wouldn't switch back on. After about five minutes, it came on on its own. I ended up looking up what the issue was and apparently these are made with cheap switches. There's a couple youtube videos explaining how to replace these switches so you don't have to keep buying $20 domes every few months. And I do have to say this is my first dome brand. I'm new to raising bearded dragons, this dome was recommended to me by a Petco associate so I went with it. I'm going to MAYBE try changing the switch to something less cheap, but honestly I feel like looking for a company that doesn't skimp on parts would be best.

No, I do not recommend this product.

How how does it produce heat in Fahrenheit?

Will this work and be safe for a corn snake?

    1. The light provides warmth and healthy light for my turtle.  Don’t get it too close to your snake and give it room toget out from the direct heat if needed. I put my light on the far side of the terrarium.

What are the actual dimensions? 8.5 diameter or high?

    1. These are 8.5" in diameter and 8.5" in height. (You'd probably need at least a 9" high space to leave room for the power cable and heat escaping from the top vents.) There is a system glitch when I ordered mine. I ordered them online, and the online description and online image of the box said 10" in diameter. When I picked it up in-store, the box stated 8.5" and the dome within was 8.5". The Petco system didn't have any 8.5" Fluker lights in their system, nor did they have any 10" domes in their stock, so some something odd must have happened on the back end. I didn't mind; they worked just as well, are deep enough for the UVA and UVB bulbs, and fit on top of the "Thrive" reptile loft perfectly side by side.

Does this have a ceramic socket to use with Mercury UVA/UVB & Heat combo? Thanks!

    1. Yes it has a ceramic socket.

would this work for a 20 gallon? (vertical) for a crested gecko?? thanks!

would this be sufficient for one leopard gecko in a ten gallon tank?

      1. Yes it would. It might be a bit big though

What kind of bulb do these need?

      1. Any bulb or ceramic heater can be used as long as it does not exceed max wattage.

Will this work with a 40 gallon tank for a blue tongue skink (dont tell me to search it up i already did)

      1. We had this for a 40 gallon tank. I think it emitted heat to one side of the tank, so our bearded dragon would have a warmer side and a cooler side.  The cooler side had a regular light source.  We've cycled through and rotated lamps between two tanks and two bearded dragons.

does it come with light bulbs?

      1. It does not come with light bulbs.

would this work for a pet snake?
